-Blackout- you're right, but he did boxing when he was a teenager too. I don't think many football players could do that. Football is already a tough sport and requires time. Boxing also requires a lot to learn the technique and to master it: the defense, the footwork,etc...
A pure NFL player with no martial arts experience would have trouble to get into a boxing career. He would have better results in MMA where pure strentgh can help you to pin your opponent and beat him up on the ground.
