I'm following the whole scenerio and your right, Freddie Roach did state
that Manny was faster, quicker and elusive more than Hatton but I also
read a lot of him back peddling and I sensed a lil un certainty but I know
he has full confidence in Manny's abilities and chances but he is not as
confident as he was with De La Hoya. I like to do research and follow
      things as they go along.

I used to watch Willie Pastrono sp on my daddys knee during Gillette Friday Nite Fights. I remember as a little boy beggin my dad to hurry up and lets leave Sears in Atlanta Ga and when we did I was in a jerk leaning over the back seat listening to the Liston Patterson fights !!!

I know nothing but what I do know is when I see somebody that is made , hyped that does possess the skills like May but shows the hint that lacks gameness to really be the Ace !! Take Ali, I have watched him fight all his fights as a boy and growing up. I remember that three year period he didn't get to fight. He crowed , trashed talked , people wanted him to shut up or better yet get shut up !!! He lost his prime during that time, he wasn't the same physically when he came back but he had something most didn't have to go along with his skill and talents and that is gameness. When he came back he fought all comers with delight and won until the end ! Think about it , first he fought the dreaded Liston, an unbeliveable killer in the ring, I wished we had him today. He had the longest and hardest jab in the business plus killer power in both hands but Ali beat him, then he fought another killer , George Foreman and another in the Trilla, when you really examine what a great many others have done in the past 50 years and then you see what Arum did with May and then what May did with Journeymen then Oscar it makes you wonder what this kid is REALLY made of !!!!!!!!! In other words his heart hasn't really been tested in the trenches !!!!!!!

If May will come out and take on ALL,,,,,,A L L ,,,, comers and come to WAR and not just pot shot journeymen, Men His size,,,,,not like Oscar , BUT men in their Prime and back up his Unsufferable MOUTH then I will consede and say he is one of the greats and gladly do it. But right now all he has done is trash talk with unsufferable arogance with insipient triades, that is more the Actions of a true CUR [ one that quits ] than playful antics of Ali and some others that are out to raise the pot.

Everybody loves a winner ! I have seen lots of boxing in my short life, lots of fighters come and go, I have seen some I consider ACE's that had it all, men who have come to war , remember Tyson and Holyfiled 1 ??? Who was game and who was CUR ???? Tyson was a monstrous rough cur but when da Mang that was Gang got in there, HE EXPOSED HIM !!!!!!!!! Hence the second fight he quit quicker than the first and curs always quit quicker after exposed.

If May won't hide behind his 0 and come out and take on all the prime comers and prove himself like say Ali or Holyfield or Foreman and a host of others we all know about in tiime past, even Margo whom most hate now but game as they come, if he will just fight the best and not pick and choose to keep his inflated 0 , then and only then will he get my respect.

Yes I watched his fights, all I could, and rewatched the first Castillo fight, May's reaction to pressure in that fight has put the seed in my mind , What will he do when he is matched and in the TRENCHES !!!!!??????????? Yes is lightning fast, a most skillful boxer , fair power ,, great timing but its his HEART he has got me wondering about and he won't help the matter because up to now he won't Fight the big boys.

        all the best,

        Dr BoKacky the Medicine Mang
Floyd was injured in the first Castillo fight and that is a fact
but he did man up and give the man a rematch who to date
was his toughest fight and beat him more convincingly so how
is he scared of pressure? We all know that he is the best at
what he does bottom line so why do people keep debating that?
Why, because he hasn't fought Shane or Cotto yet? To me that
is not a reason to discredit a guy with a career and achievements
like his. He's coming back so will see what he does but I'm not
going to dislike anyone for that matter if they choose to do what
        they do with their career.

Floyd's career is solidified at 130/135 he is a HOF already and
just moved up to get paid (I would do the same if the $ right)
Why would a fighter/Boxer he was taught to fight before he
could walk, raised in a all boxing family, fighting all his life be
scared of anyone? To me it just doesn't compute. Floyd is
not Ali or Holyfied, to each it's own. Hopefully he fights Mosley
and Cotto (Would love to see it) but whatever the case is I
recognize him as a talent and force in boxing and as far as a
boxing technician and winning attitude goes he's the best and
        I'll leave it at that.

Well, Ronnie, in his usual way, apart from getting all the material to write a book on Pac later and report on every day things in his life, like going to the supermarket and thinking about which vegetables to choose, has to make sure there are excuses already set up in case he loses.

This is a good one, I like it. He peaked too early and got tired and then lost it because of that.

The basketball thing was great as well. Especially that last line where he actually writes what Manny said. He must have been there to hear that special one. What a treat we got.

Oh, and for those wondering what peaking means, it is simply the time in a boxers training camp that he hits his potential. They have been doing this for their whole lives and so during a camp, lasting two or three months etc, depending on how it works for them, they will hit their stride just before the fight, hopefully right before the camp starts winding down.

That means that they will have a lot of pent up energy before the fight to waste during the fight on the others guys face. It is, to put it simple, when the fighter feels in perfect physical condition with a lot of energy and is still mentally alert etc etc.

One thing here though: Pacquiao is not peaking too early. This is a pretty normal time to be peaking. It can often differ by a few days, even a week and as the trainers know, all they need to do is start slowly bringing it down now. It's all fine, this is not going to make his performance any different at all.

                What he said...

Tapering off usually happens on the week of the fight itself. That's where they try to maintain the boxer's form, if he was already in peak form or right about to peak. That's also the time to map out their plan B or C, or perfect it if they've already played it out in their camp.

i don't believe there is such thing as "overtraining" for manny. the guy has been called "human dynamo", he doesn't get tired during training. Remember tyson's comment to roach to slow manny down during the delahoya camp?? roach just said "manny is already slowing down now"......
