17? Get real, he was alread at LW. Furthermore, 12? Get real, he was already going to 140 in his next fight anyways. Please dont say that youre talking about after the weigh-in because he only comes in on fight night at 148. Plus, dont say dragging when he called Floyd out
Floyd Mayweather interview (about weight)...this is why he wants it at 147

What's interesting is the scheduled weight. Rules are rules and weigh-in is the day before. Who cares about some unofficial fighttime weights.Comment

Very disturbing to hear something like this, its disturbing when Clottey comes in at super middleweight to fight Corrales, who cares you say.Comment

This is what people fail to understand, he ent gonna try making 140 for his next fight as he doesnt know how it'll affect his body.
Thats why he wants the Marquez fight closer to 147 than 140.Comment

As I said rules are rules.
Maybe an official fighttime weigh-in with limits on weightgain would be appropriate, but thats another subject which I believe has been covered in another thread by Benny Leonard.Comment

How is the scheduled weight "interesting"?
Maybe Gamache cared that Gatti put on 15+pounds and almost killed him. Maybe Chico cares that Clottey showed up at 170 for a WW/147 pound fight.
Why do we have divisions and why do we put a number on that division to promote the fight as so and so weight/division, if few, if any, show up at the required weight by fight-time?
Why is it allowed?
Why punished the fighter that actually can show up at the actual division weight yet refuses to take a pill to drain his body of fluids and then have to stick a needle in his arm to rehydrate?
Why have that fighter have to face off against an opponent that might now be 1-3 divisions above you?
Why don't we just forget the divisions then and just let everybody be free agents to go around fighting whoever they want and sign off on a required weight as they choose and let them enforce how much a fighter can be by fight-time...
Or, to go with my thread, put a cap on how much weight you can gain unless you just want to enforce the actual weight of the division....

Ethics and morality go out the window when Floyd is the topic.Comment

I suggest you make a new thread about possibilities to alter the weigh-in rules. Nobody says the rules today is perfect, but they are regarded as better than the pre Kim-Mancini rules. How is the scheduled weight "interesting"?
