Wow, you guys are trying to hard to stick up for this fool. The ATF was undercover at a gun show. They were watching for people like him. He is probably decently well known in the area and I'm sure the cops know his history. And they see him buying a gun. How is that a set up? Did his girlfriend pressure him to go buy a gun?
Regardless of whether or not he can get off, he is a dumbass. If he thought he needed a gun to be safe, he should have moved out of the area. Doesnt have to be to an expensive place, just somewhere that nobody knows him. Its his own fault, and I'm kinda glad to see it, someone that is that dumb does not deserve fame or fortune.
If you want to start speculating maybe he was buying the gun to do another armed robbery. We all know certain people like stealing even if they have money to buy something.

From the Austin American-Statesman:
Kirkland was arrested Sunday by U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents who, along with Austin police, found a loaded .40-caliber Glock pistol in the center console of his Cadillac, according to federal court documents. He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Kirkland was on probation for a 2003 armed robbery.
Sunday's arrest came after federal agents staking out the Saxet Gun Show watched Kirkland give money to his girlfriend to buy .40-caliber ammunition, the court papers say.
Authorities allege that Kirkland had bought the Glock pistol the day before at the gun show for $525 and tried Sunday to buy another one but was turned down by a seller.
ATF agents said that they followed Kirkland's Cadillac, which his girlfriend was driving at high speed from the North Austin gun show.
Officers found the loaded pistol among documents in the center console of the car. Among the documents was a letter from his Travis County probation officer granting Kirkland permission to temporarily leave the state.
The court papers also say that Kirkland's probation officer told federal agents that she was in the process of revoking his probation in connection with another Austin case in which Kirkland is a suspect. She said that Kirkland allegedly had thrown a .45-caliber Ruger pistol underneath a vehicle.Last edited by -Boxzilla-; 04-21-2009, 11:44 PM.

What kills me is that he could've bought the same gun, here in Chi-town with no fan fare and probably cheaper than at a gun show.
I mean he's technically buying it illegally anyways, what's the diff?
He coulda came with his girlfriend and bought it, with no ATF.
This **** just sucks, maybe he had a good reason to be packin', who knows, but there are plenty smarter ways of going about it than that.
I am sure this was for his protection since h'es getting famous.
I feel bad for the guy for his bad choices.
We all **** up. He just did it on a bigger stage than most.
