Originally posted by Man In BlackYeah. And from a matchup angle, apart from JMM vs. Campbell, I'm not sure what other fight I'd like to see Marquez in the timeframe Pac is engaged with Hatton. It's a good one to get Floyd back in on, and it gets JMM involved in another big event. It's just I'm torn between wanting to see Floyd announce his comeback in dominant style and not wanting to see JMM be on the end of it, because of how late he is in his career. I still want to see him get that trilogy fight with Pac. Maybe if Floyd dusts them both then they can get it on.
Campbell would beat Marquez imo. Campbell is a very cagey fighter. I believe he got done out of a win over Casamayor. Funeka is akward for anyone. I think we can excuse him that.

To me Marquez is a great fighter so seeing two fighters who I view as great duke it out is always fun. I think the fight will be competitive at some point but I think over the course of the fight Floyd will just be to much. I think it probably disapoint some but seeing two men of such a high level go at it will be at the very least interesting.
I really think this is a low risk high reward move for JMM, he is going to get his biggest payday by a wide margin and if he can somehow pull off a win how huge would that be? JMM might catch a beating but even if he does he can take some time off to count his stack of cash, and come back at 140 or 135 if he wants and still be considered a top guy.

As long as the weight is close enough to light welterweight it should be a relatively competetive fight. Having said that I still think Marquez should come in at 140 regradless of the catchweight.
I think this fight should be judged after the fight. If Marquez puts up a good fight, and I wouldn't put it past him, then I think that would justify the match up. Remember the reason why Marquez has been able to move up in weight is because of his superior boxig skills and I think they will also allow him to move up one more weight. He looks in great condition at 135 and even if he were to stay at lightweiht for one more fight I think he would be fully adjusted to the weight, that's if he isn't already. Marquez skill's will stay with him as long as we doesn't blow himself up too much and therefore if the fight is near LWW I see Marquez performing a lot better than anyone think he will and by the end of fight night I think you will see either victor getting good credit for the win, allbeit Mayweather's being more dependant on Marquez's performance. I'm all for the fight and I can't wait

No doubt there will be a carrot dangled for every lbs they agree on.

Unless JMM is sure the winner of Pac-Hatton is going to fight him, there is no way he walks away from Mayweather over a couple pounds. They have made bad career moves in the past, in terms of getting paid but this would blow them all away I do not think Golden Boy would allow it to happean.
