Again, Freddie Roach went on record and said he would want Pacquiao
to fight at a catch weight with Mayweather and Pacquiao carries the
weight up extremely well and is the P4P#1 fighter in the world. PBF
is just a beast. I think after he serves up JMM then Pacquiao, Mosley
will get his schooling and then he ends it off with beating Cotto up and
then retires again the P4P#1 fighter in the world ;-) He's smart. I don't
think Floyd will come back for only two fights. He's going for the status
and to silence the critics and get paid big time while doing it.

Well those are tall orders to be served up there. I think he beats JMM just because JMM is 35 years old, smaller and will not be able to deal with the speed Mayweather will bring. I think it's a fight based on money for JMM, nothing more.

As far as him beating everyone else, that's something I'm waiting to see. Everyone wants to see him and Pacquiao fight, that's the mega fight we are all waiting for and hopefully if/when Pac beats Hatton we will see that fight.

Cotto and the other fighters at higher weight classes is another story all together.

I feel Floyd Mayweather Jr will need to serve Miguel Cotto and
Shane Mosley before he decides to retire again. Cotto/Mayweather
is a fight that I've been wanting to see and will continue to look
forward to seeing that & Mosley too. If Floyd beats JMM and Pacquiao
and still campaignes at 147 then he should definitely give Cotto and
Mosley a shot before he exits the stage again

          FLOYD=BIGGEST ***** EVER
This coming from a clown behind a keyboard.....LOL. It riddles how the internet has turned guys that can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag into bold name callers of men that fight for pay.......LOL

          • i just dont understand. Why should mayweather have to make any concession at all when JMM is the one who called him out. Mayweather being the bigger name in this situation holds almost all the cards, i dont see why this is such a huge debate. Thats just how it is, JMM knows what hes getting himself into by calling that guy out. You guys are amazing sometimes with your rhetoric.

Great point. I'd like to add this to it. If Cotto loses to Clottey, a Cotto fight is irrelevant. I would have loved to see a Cotto\Mayweather fight a year or two ago. I've always felt that once Cotto started fighting the bigger welterweights his stock and popularity would fall. I don't see him beating Paul Williams,Clottey or Mosely. I know he won their last fight but I personally didn't see like that. I thought it was a draw.

Mayweather wants the fight to be closer to 147 and Marquez, who is currently the WBA/WBO champion at 135-pounds, wants the fight closer to 140. [details]
mayweather is a fool. he'll be better at 140. the higher up in weight mayweather got, the slower he got and his power didn't really change. mayweather needs to realize that welterweight isn't the attractive division it use to be. he needs to move down to 140 with pacquiao, hatton, bradley, holt, campbell, khan, ortiz and now JMM. thats the new marquee division in boxing IMO.

Now imagine what would happen if he forced himself to go up 7 pounds more to 154......Oh wait...

Point is..Floyd did it..Pac is doing it...JMM can do it.
if he's a natural 140 pounder, then why does he wanted to fight hatton at 147 and now wants to fight marquez at 147? oh and, he never went up to 154, he stayed at 150 for the dlh fight

if you're gonna make up excuses, make em count. from what you're saying, he'd be a ***** and a hypocrite if he challenged any little guys at 147, him not being a welter

For the guys like yourself who have more than likely NEVER boxed competitively I'll attempt to explain the weight issue. Floyd's natural fighting weight is probably 135 or 140. That means in between fights those are the weight we can come down to and fight without losing anything. During this time he probably weighs somewhere between 147 and 155. He is therefore not a true welterweight by any means no matter how you critics like to twist it. Now, you may ask why does he want to fight at 147 now? He's not in fighting condition and has been off for a while. His weight is probably considerably higher than 147 at the moment. Probably around 160 to 166. It would be too much to come down to 140 right now. It is possible that he may never fight at 140 again because his body has grown to maintain a higher weight. It's almost like stunting your natural growth when you're in condition. Meaning now that he's been off his body has grown naturally to allow him to become a true welterweight . During the time he was fighting this wasn't the case. The problem with having your first fight back against a bigger welterweight is he hasn't had the chance to gage the effectiveness of carrying this weight. I'll explain, when he fought De La Hoya, he was already in shape and probably put on muscle and weight to just to come in at 150. Now, he's probably at least 10 pounds over what his heaviest fighting weight was. Its a different type of training camp. That is why JMM is considered a tuneup. He's going to learn what he fight comfortably at with his new body. Anyone that has boxed or wrestled knows what I'm talking about.
