I Have An Honest Question For Mayweather Fans.

Well I don't know if that's true or not but the people I personally know who dislike Mayweather are of various races, including black, and they all uniformly give the same reason for disliking him.

A lot of Mayweather fans seem to have the idea that the reason Floyd is so heavily disliked, is essentially because he's so great people just have to hate him. So why then was Whitaker, a far greater ATG, so widely loved by boxing fans while Mayweather is not? Shouldnt Whitaker have been much more hated? Without commenting on Mayweather, one of the main reasons I loved Whitaker was because he fought (and beat) everyone there was to fight.

I know a lot of people who dislike Mayweather (obviously) and they all uniformly give the same reason which is basically, "He's in his prime and he's not fighting top competition". Some put it more disrespectfully than others of course, but that's essentially the universal criticism of Floyd.

If you're a fan of Mayweather, instead of saying, "people hate Floyd because he's so great", isnt it more reasonable to simply accept the criticism as honest, and at times legitimate?

This is a very simple, honest and straightforward post. What's wrong about it?

Floyd's ability is unmatched, it would be fair to remember his as the ultimate craftsman, slip and slide and BOOM (dear dear Ricky ) He is content to just sit back and wait and wait and wait and wait and this is why he gets no love. Yes, his defence and counterpunching might be unmatched in the sport, but we the Forumers have gotten used to watching JMM, Vasquez and such in amazing fights where both offence and amazing technical skills are involed!

That's why I purposely picked Whitaker for my comparison, so nobody could say it's because Floyd is defensive minded.

This is a conveniant excuse as to why YOU think he's hated. Most fans who dislike him do so because of his arrogance and refusal to make the toughest fights since he left 135. That dislike is only magnified when fans like you defend everthing he does like he walks on water. Bottom line is, if you act like a jerk people are going to call you a jerk. And for all his talent and skill, Floyd acts like a jerk.
