    he fought all welters
Mitchell wasn't a natural 147 pounder, but was just a tune up, so... fair enough. Judah and Baldo, both Welters, fair game. Hatton was not a Welter, he was almost knocked out by Collazo and is clearly better at 140, although still a good win obviously. The point is, Hatton was a good win because he was unbeaten and Top 10 P4P, yet Cotto held those same characteristics... but was a natural 147 pounder. That's the issue people have with Floyd at 147. Like I said, I'm a fan so this isn't hate.

Pac moved up to fight Diaz, his tune up. JMM is jumping 12 pounds to fight Floyd, Floyds tune up. JMM is a very good fighter, but a light hitting Lightweight in Juan Diaz rocked him at times if I remember correctly... so I doubt he'll fair well at 147..

Clottey, Cotto and Mosley all deserve a shot at Mayweather. To say he doesn't need to fight Cotto or Clottey but fighting JMM is ok is ridiculous.

He'd get so much more respect if he beat those 3 WW's.

Well when you are the self proclaim GOAT better that SRR, you should be expected to do this that other fighters can do.
floyd mayweather is better than any ww to ever come out of pr..... can you really argue that?

how would cotto or quintana do at 160? that would be their 4th weight class so how would they do?

                you're right.

pac's tuneup against diaz should be compared to floyd's best win at 147 against carlos baldomir.

But, he fights at 147, but doesn't face the top guys there. If he wants Marquez and Pacquiao (Both of which I think would be good wins for him), he should fight them at 140. Because,

1- Making JMM jump 2 divisions means the win is easy to discredit,
2- Pacquiao is more of a 140 pounder, so is Mayweather.

If he wants to fight 135-140 guys, fight them at 140, not 147. If he fights at 147, he should be looking at a warm up them onto Cotto/Mosley/Williams etc..

Although, the start of his Welter run wasn't bad (Judah and Baldomir, both 147 pounders), since then he hasn't fought natural Welters.

Very good unbiase post, am a fan of Mayweather as well but he needs to fight 147 if he want fights at WW not make fighters like JMM move up, Its like he wants to eat is cake and have it...He wants to fight at 147 but not against WW...

This has Sugar ray leonard written all over it.

So maybe Cotto should fight Hatton or Pac at 160.

The logic isn't flawless, but you can't say that JMM would be anywhere near as effective at 147. Also, Oscar couldn't land for **** that night, he was a zombie, Floyd will be sharp, accurate and fast like always...

He's gunna take JMM out. But I'm not gunna argue over a tune up, it's what happens after that fight that matters..
