Making this fight is a great way of pleasing Cotto into staying with Arum.
Otherwise Miguel Cotto might be Leaving. Manny Pacquiao won't lose much if loses to Cotto and if Cotto looks bad in the fight Arum isn't obligated into signing him back. Even if Cotto leaves Arum would be making alot of money since he promotes both fighters. It's a smart move.

Wow, this is crazy. Pacquiao v.s. Cotto/Mayweather are the big fights I'm waiting for, after his bout with Hatton of course.

But things could change if he loses to Hatton.

Cotto signing an extension is the main reason Arum is pushing for it. He wins all the way around, but he wouldn't make the fight then try to get Cotto to sign an extension, man that would be ******. The only way Cotto gets this is if he signs the extension first. You're looking at close to a million buys on top of that. Great fight, definitely a FOTY candidate, I see Cotto taking it, but he'll get hit a ton in the process.

Fuck too many doubters in here. Pac will bring his best to embarrass the critics again.

Cotto be careful what you wish for.

Damn, I wanted to see a welterweight unification versus Mosley if Cotto wins. Hopefully, he can pick up a fight against Berto to use as an unificatory tune-up before a Pac fight. Shane gets screwed, yet again.

You won't get a fight with May by saying "I'll let my team pick for me" when asked about Mayweather.

When asked about fighting Pacquiao "yeah definately, that fight can be made I would love to fight Pacquiao" - Cotto

                N!gga Please...

Obviously now he talks of a mega fight for Cotto anticipating the possibilty that Cotto may leave after this year. Mayweather is better for Cotto but Arum won't make as much money.

Cotto vs. Mosley was not a draw. Mosley won 5 rounds, maybe, if we're being extremely generous. 1-3, 9 & 10. Rounds 2 and 3 are actually negligible. Cotto then dominated the 11th just to remind the judges who's dictating the fight (and that he was never out of gas, but coasting), and then niether fighter did anything in the 12th.

When Cotto did call out Mayweather by stating, "Yeah, I'd fight Mayweather. But no one can make him fight. I'll fight de bess; I'll fight whoeber dey put in front of me."

(spelling done that way to accurately reflect his speech)

In response, Mayweather chooses to fight De La Hoya again, and says on ESPN, "Cotto needs to make a fight for himself before I make a fight with him. He's still a little bit green; his name isn't really out there."

ESPN Journalist: "So why DLH again?"

Mayweather: "Come on, now," gesturing 'money' with his fingers.

Then he backed out of that deal and allegedly retired.

Now he's owed nothing. He has no claim to any championship. He never faced the best at 147, and therefore was never the true Welterweight Champion. If he wants it, he has to call out Cotto, Mosley, or Pacquaio. Heck, even Paul Williams might f--- him up. They are the best right now. But he won't do that, because he never wants to fight the best. He wants to hand pick smaller guys, force them to be at a weight disadvantage by moving to meet his demands, and then take most of their money while he's at it.

He's not an all-time great as it stands. He could make up for it by challenging the best, not waiting around, thinking the boxing world has to come to him. Win, lose, or draw, he'd earn a much better legacy and far more respect by taking on the best before hanging them up for good.

He thinks that's where he belongs, but he never got there. Instead, he's a great big coulda, woulda, shoulda who needs humility.

As a side note: Pacquaio's technically the 'greater' fighter of this generation. He's earned more lineal titles (and is about to get one more if he beats Hatton), and has fought nothing but the best at each level.

                      Manny's 48-3 looks better than Floyd's 39-0, hands down.
