    Peter Manfredo Jr. returns Saturday

Peter Manfredo is returining to the ring this Saturday in Montreal, Canada. He is going up against hometown fighter Walid Smichet. Most peole probably know Smichet from his fight against John Duddy when he gave Duddy hell and busted him up pretty good before he dropped a close majority decision.

Manfredo is fighting at 168 in this fight because he took it on short notice but he is planning on returning to 160. Manfredo admits the top fighters at 168 are too big and strong for him. No that he is released from the Contender and back with CES Boxing he is returning to 160 and making one last title run.

I seen Manfredo is the office today before he left for Canada and he's ready to fight.

This will be a good fight. I bet it is highly entertaining.

It will go unnoticed for the most part but this is actually a great match up.

I had no idea why Manfredo ever went to 160.

That said, I actually thought he beat Jeff Lacy. That would have been a sweet win.

Sakio Bika basically just beat him up, it was a mismatch, Manfredo looked helpless against such an aggressive guy who had good size. Bika is a horrible opponent though and possibly the most aggressive fighter in the game, you certainly don't want to be the little guy against him, unless you have serious skills.

Good luck to Manfredo, I like him. Seems geniune.

The goal is to get a fight Manfredo a fight with John Duddy. By beating Walid Smichet more impressively than Duddy would be a step in the right direction towards that fight.

Im assuming you meant 168 and here is why...He was with the Contender, along with Sergio Mora.Mora was their Golden Boy as Manfredo put it. Mora beat Manfreod in their fights, many think Manfredo deserved the decision in the second fight. But regardless, Mora was made their top 160 fighter with the Contender and Manfredo was just their secondary. So he decided to go to 168 and look for fights. He won his first two fights at 168 by KO and felt good. Then he fought the top guys and now he openly admits he's not big enough and them guys at 168 are just too big and strong for him.

He is now released from the Contender and back with CES Boxing. Now is is planning on going back to 160.

              Yes sir, mean't 168

coolio, never knew this. Seems a little harsh to be put outside his comfort zone. I remember laughing at the size difference between Joe Calzaghe and Manfredo and I even called a 3 round stoppage despite Calzaghe not being able to punch for years, premature stoppage somewhat, but that fight was silly.

Manfreido Vs Calzaghe was a good fight.

Nice to see Manfredo has finished his stint as a nose job model.

I remember he said he would retire if he couldn't beat Sakio Bika last year. He didn't want to continue on if he was destined to remain a journeyman. He will probably beat Smichet, maybe the money was good.
