Was PBF right? Merchant knows nothing about boxing?

Merchant was not the one who knew about FRONT RUNNER. It was Floyd who compared Judah to a front runner and Merchant asked what it ment. I am not saying the Merchant doesn't know anything about boxing but sometimes he does come off the wall and even seems clueless at times. I don't know the man personally but it makes me wonder if the rumors are true about him hitting the sauce a little too muchIs a "Check Hook like a "Check Swing" in baseball, that its pulled short and stopped right at the point of impact?
As far as front runner goes, that term is used in many places other than horse racing..... Merchant isnt even the first commentator to apply it to Zab Judah, much less a boxer in general.

a check hook is a mixture of a hook and an uppercut, basically used by fighters to ward off hard charging opponents. Muhammad Ali used what was called a "drag hook" albeit with different effects, most notably in his 1977 fight with Earnie Shavers.
Mayweather vs Hatton If you saw the fight, you will see Mayweather backing up as he threw it allowing Hatton's momentum to increase the effectiveness of the blow; another indication of how a check hook is used to turn defense into offense.
Still only a very speedy fighter such as Ali or Mayweather or Jones would be able to get away with that sort of a punch while backing away.Comment

i'll post this again
from Wikipedia
In boxing, a check hook is employed to prevent aggressive boxers from lunging in. There are two parts to the check hook. The first part consists of a regular hook. The second, trickier part involves the footwork. As the opponent lunges in, the boxer should throw the hook and pivot on his left foot and swing his right foot 180 degrees around. If executed correctly, the aggressive boxer will lunge in and sail harmlessly past his opponent like a bull missing a matador. This is rarely seen in professional boxing as it requires a great disparity in skill level to execute. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. demonstrated a picture perfect example of this punch against Ricky Hatton in their 2007 encounter. Ricky Hatton was caught with the check hook as he was lunging in; Hatton continued forward as he was knocked off balance and proceeded to ram his head into the ring post as Floyd Mayweather stepped out of harm's way. When interviewed, Mayweather stated that he was taught the check hook in the Michigan amateurs.Comment

I guess this would be more of the drag hook almost uppercut while going backwards then?a check hook is a mixture of a hook and an uppercut, basically used by fighters to ward off hard charging opponents. The problem is, who's a better blow by blow guy than Lampley? Showtime's crew sucks and so does ESPNs. None of them, Lampley included, are in Cosell's or Dunphy's league as announcers.Hey poet. The roar of the masses are just farts.
I am sure he doesn't give a **** what they think.
He counts his money, laughs, and bellies up to the bar ringside.
I like him because he checks the idiot drama queen Lampley who couldn't call a 1-2 if he was sitting on the toilet doing both, so he does have some redeeming qualities.

Well, of course Merchant isn't going to have the intimate knowledge of the sport in the same frame as fighters and trainers do. Those folks eat it, sleep it, drink it, breathe it, and bleed it.
But; as far as those of us who watch it and love it.....Merchant's forgotten more than most of us are ever going to know.Comment
