Dude, he can make 145lbs on weight-in date, he is a welterweight. Having noone to fight in that particular weight doesn't mean he is not a welterweight.

if i had to make a list without p williams it would look like this:

        cotto
        SSM
        clottey
        berto
        collazo
        quintana

if i had to stick williams in there i guess i would stick him in between clottey and berto. i think he can still make 147 for one more fight but i can't see him making the weight for the purpose of taking on a clottey, berto or a collazo.

it would have to be SSM or cotto and one out of those two would probably ave to be undisputed 147 kingpin before williams decides to take him on. its a shame that williams and marg never got it on a second time that would have settled it in regards to who was the main man at 147 before williams moved up.

the good thing about welter is that the fights are being made, cotto has taken on just about everyone (SSM, marg, quintana and now clottey), the likes of berto are only going to get better and clottey is the dark horse.

True but not fighting at the weight does. I believe Bernard Hopkins can still make middleweight. Does that mean I rank him as the number 1 middleweight? No. Rank fighters in the division they fight in. PWill's last fight was at middleweight and he won a belt at LMW. Rank him as number 1 in one of those divisions for all I care, but until he comes back down to welter for a fight, he's no welter. And don't give me the avoided crap. If Williams really wants the big fights, he needs to pay his dues and start getting fans to show up for him. If not, fight at welterweight until your someone's mandatory. This whole idea that Williams is all the sudden deserving of every super fight available is laughable.

                  1. Shane Mosley
                  2. Miguel Cotto
                  3. Joshua Clottey
                  4. Carlos Quintana
                  5. Andre Berto
                  6. Luis Collazo
                  7. Kermit Cintron
                  8. Isaac Hlatshwayo
                  10. Zab Judah

Excluded Margarita for obvious reasons, Paul Williams because neither of his last three fights have been at welterweight (Kolle middleweight, Phillips light middleweight, Wright middleweight).

How does that even make sense? Williams most notable wins at 147 were Margarito and Quintana (rematch)
Mosley destroyed Margarito, lost a decision to Cotto
Cotto beat Quintana, Malignaggi, Mosley, Judah
