How does Hatton handle hand speed? (Mayweather)
The only reason Pac's handspeed has been so successful and effective in recent fights, is that Pac only fights stationary fighters. His opponents have all been ones who stand off him, let him dictate the pace, let him control the ring, allow him time and space to do his in/out fighting and fire off combinations pretty much at will.

Against Hatton, there will be no chance for Pac to breathe. Hatton will constantly be in his face, pounding away. Hatton will be the one in control of the ring and dictating the pace of the fight.

Pacquiao is not an elusive, defensive master like Floyd is. He will be trying to do his usual thing against Hatton, but won't be allowed to and he will struggle. Hatton will have to take a few shots to get inside, but he's had a whole career doing this and against harder hitters than Pac. And with Floyd Snr placing greater emphasis on jab, head movement, fients and better footwork, Hattons aggressiveness will be more educated and tidier than we have ever seen. His hugging and grappling tactics will be kept to a minimum - although I still think Hatton will utilise it in some way.

If Pac thinks he can come into this fight and use his usual tactics like he did against David Diaz and ODLH and a whole host of his previous opponents, then he's in for a shock. His best bet is to fight on the back foot, and dance around the ring ala Mayweather. That's not his style and I don't think he can do it effectively enough. Coupled with the fact that Hatton will be the hardest hitter he's faced and the heavier/bigger guy on the night, I just don't see how Pac can win this any other way.

Ok great, cause I was like "damn this dude really wanted to get his point across".

But ya, I posted my thoughts on Hatton in this thread and from my observation my outcome is still the same. Pacquiao takes it.

Anyways, Pacquiao has even said "If you trainhard (my avatar name) the fight will be easy. You want fighters to slap their sparring partners rather then give it your all, thats shear lazy IMO.

Why is Kobe usually always the first one in the arena warming up? Practice, practice, practice. Only athletes understand this philosophy.
Maybe keeping some in reserve would have been a better way of putting it.. My main concern were for his hands.. With that kind of "Barnstorming" style, there's plenty of safer things to **** in the gym.. Not heads and elbows at full pelt.. The emphasis on sparring at this stage should be more about timing & movement.. Not busting up inferiors that are only there to graft.. I know this is the world stage, and I'm not coming out in sympathy for the sparring partners, I just don't see it as the correct thing to do.. Anyway, as I wrote earlier, Probably a lot of BS hype involved..

fighting some tougher opponents because I think Ricky would kick

... and these bunch fights like Pacquiao? And a lot tougher? I would rather hear a boxer beating up his sparring partners than a boxer being beaten up by his sparring partners.

good post... but pac's speed + southpaw stance will give hatton trouble.

hatton's only chance is to hug to negate those advantages
