  • So who is gonna replace Oscar as Boxing's shining star?

Love him or hate him the guy was the only real boxer who had cross over appeal to a main****** audience over the last 15 years.

Is there anyone left that has a remote chance of keeping boxing in the main****** or is boxing doomed to obscurity?

We won't have another fighter like Oscar De La Hoya for a looooong time.

Chances are never because Oscar had the star thing but took risks, took hard fights, against the best. Tito, Mayweather, Chavez, Whitaker... Nowadays we will witness an avalanche of Calzaghe like careers. It's fun when it's your idol doing it but imagine someone really good doing that ****. He can end up his career like 50-0 and taking only like 3 good fights, 2 of which against people he should be fighting when in his 20's for experience. Can you accept a Dawson, Valero or new Oscar doing the kind of career EVERYONE is trying to do now? Ie ****load of mandatories (like the HWs do) with no megafights whatsoever for 10 ****ing years.
