So who is gonna replace Oscar as Boxing's shining star?

Think about it....he seems to have all the passion and hunger and skill that Vargas showed early on.....but he seems to have the even temper charisma and looks (not so much the looks) that DLH had....he has the whole Mexican American thing going on and the ****ty humble background....
Im saying Victor Ortiz could be the next big thing ala DLH....Comment

Yeah, Ortiz definatley has some stardust about him - but not on the scale of Oscar. He's very exciting, personable, speaks well and is decent looking kid ~(no ****) I just hope GBP don't make a mess of bringing him through.Comment

Yeah i really like the guy but 50,000 people just are not gonna watch him fight in a giant football stadium like they did for oscar.Comment

Since we don't have any Gold medalist golden boy Olympics, we'd probably need someone who could cross over like Tyson did.
A bad ass ko artist at heavy would get everyone talking in the U.S. if he took some risks and was promoted right.
Promoters definitely don't wanna lose their cash cows, so they tend to make fights when they have to.Comment

A Delahoya or Ray Leonard dont come around that often and even when they do some are still hating. These kind of fighters cant be made or bred, they are ones who catch the publics eye and become the crossovers that keep boxing in the general publics mind.
Proper handling and proper exposure help as do the gold medals but there is so much more that goes into it. Chavez was a cross over as was hearns and Roy Jones. But they never had the personal appeal or charisma that it takes to become a leonard or delahoya. Takes more than just some sizzlin' dukes to be like these guys...................Rockin'Comment

C'mon the guy have been a part time fighter for the past five years, but I guess now that Oscar is gone boxing is doomed forever because the only thing keeping it going was his mainstream appeal and charismatic nature.....not actual fights no.Comment
