At his own weight and against abc belt holders, he could have done business.
I felt Oscar could have had a couple more big fights.

i did too... I think he screwed up with overtraining and fighting at 147... also pacman is no joke... I think it was a bad style match up and a screw up in training...
I personally felt he looked good against steve forbes... he should of at least when out on a win agsinst a contender though... he could fight someone whose more one dimensional -
I dunno know about that. DLH is no longer elite material, let's face the facts. I appreciate what he did/doing for boxing. But he is waaay past due for retirement.
IMO, if DLH wants to continue fighting he'd have to fight with the lower class fighters. And i highly doubt he wants to lower himself to that after everything he's accomplished in his career.
I'm cool with him retiring. I was never a fan, i understand what he did for boxing. What he's doing for boxing now is pretty good, so it's not like he's completely out of the game.
Watch, in 10 years if the Golden Boy handles his business the way he fought, boxing will be big again.Comment

i think he could too. every one started talking about how he was declining when he started moving down in weight with forbes. 154 oscar could have done something but he knew that during these days the big money was at welterweight.
can any body think of some 154 fights that would have done decent events?Comment

Nah i think Oscar had enough.
He's already seen the better days of his career behind him and regardless of being weight drained or whatever, Pacquiao IMO brought him back to reality and he knew whether he fought at even 154 his tools just didn't do it anymore.
He's got nothing else to prove and leaving the sport on a loss to the #1 fighter in the world isn't such a bad thing.Last edited by RL_GMA; 04-14-2009, 03:44 PM.Comment

i know how u feel inferno... i had that same feeelling just 2 seconds before he started sobbing and announcing his retirement...
its hard t o do it.!! but i know u can...
let it go man... .let it go.... at the end.. is for his own health... it would be pretty sad.. if for some reason.. oscar got really hurt in a fight.. and ends up ****ed.. the guy just gave all that he could.. love him or hate him!! oscar was the face of boxing for almost a decade......
its time to move on!!Comment

He should have retired years ago. Who wants to watch a fighter who is a shell of his former self fight lesser fighters just to go out on a couple of cheap wins? Just like Tito could beat some no names so his fans can clap for there favorite fighter again, but what the **** would the point be? When you have been to the top, and cant get there again, move on. Cause if you win then you beat nobodies, but if you lose then you are shamed by all the ******ed people on here who relish whenever someone fails. It just tarnishes what you have already done and lets young punks build a name off of you.Comment

When the words "I don't have it anymore" come out your mouth you are DONE.
Sure he can still win fights but why risk getting ko'd hard by someone who a few years ago wouldn't even be in the same ring as you?Comment
