    Williams Blew His Own Career!

How differnt would things be for Williams right now if he wouldve just knocked out Quintana in 1 round the very 1st time? His career would be a complete 180 right now. He would easily be in the top 2 or 3 P4P and alot of people would be saying that ranking aside, he is the best fighter in the world. His hype would be even more bigger on the National scene and his purses would be much bigger. Most of all, his status would have changed amongst fighters. I tell people all the time that boxers rarely ever fear eachother. Its all about risk vs reward and right now Williams is truly high risk/low reward for the fighters at the lower divisions. Trust me when I say that it would be totally different if he didnt have that L. Mosley & Cotto would be much more willing to fight this guy then. 1st off he would clearly be called the best so beating him would be a big deal but those guys would also be called punks for not fighting him. No one does that now because he has that one loss but if he never had that loss then people would be saying that Mosley & Cotto are running scared from this guy. They would say that Floyd doesnt want to fight at WW because he knows he has to fight him. When Williams talks and calls everyone scared clowns who dont want to fight him then everyone would have to listen. Everyone would be saying that this guy is seemingly unbeatable and that would make guys want to jump to fight him.

Lets face it, I love Guzman and I dont rip him like others do for not making weight but that certainly hurt his career and blew his big chance. Its the same for Williams with that L to an average-to-solid guy like Quintana. Now the only fight he can really get are against MW guys who he's obviously not a 110% sure that he's ready for. He can call out Mosley and those guys all day but there not going to fight him and the public wont rip them for not fightign him but if he didnt have that L then those guys would basicaly have to fight him and I think most of them would want to fight him anyways. You also could sell this guy like no other if he was undefeated. Once the mainstream saw him on 24/7 and saw how he is killing guys in 3 weight classes at the same time and beating the best of the best? Once they saw how he's a seemingly 9ft tall Southpaw who throws a million punches and has a great loveable attitude while at the same time is willing to fight anyone, they would eat it up. They would call him Hearns 2.0 or something. He's not the same but he's equaly as freak if not more. I seriously think that he couldve been a big PPV star. E****aly in the inner city. The people I know love 24/7. If he was on there then he would be a Super Star in the Inner City and I bet even rappers would be saying his name in there songs. Now instead he has to fight on HBO in half empty arenas against top guys for much less money and no one in the main stream knows him. That L has set his career back a ton

    You're crazy...

History has shown that 1 loss doesn't take away from your career being an overall success.

Sugar Ray had 1 loss to Duran and went on to make Duran quit in the 2nd fight, KO'd a favored Tommy Hearns and beat a favored Hagler.

Plus, Williams is still young. Give the dude a chance.

It may have been a bit of a set back and sure, things would be different but like I said before that loss could have been a blessing in disguise. Maybe he needed something like that to happen to step up his game. I mean he looks much improved, compare how he looked in Quintana I and prior, to the way he is now.

I probably shouldnt have said his career because you never know what will happened later but Im talking about his career up til this point and probably even alot of it in the future. Also, please dont compare SR losing to Duran as the same as Williams losing to Quintana. Besides that, SR was already a huge star and so was Duran. Back then losses were more accepted but your stock drops alot now with an L and it drops a ton if its not against a top guy.

          Disagree completely...

it was a setback, nothing more.

Well that maybe true from a pure boxing standpoint but all I know is that he just fought one of the best fighters in the game on regular HBO in a empty arena and made chump change while at the same time he cant get a WW to even look at him. The mainstream doesnt even know him

How can you say that when he has no crowd and will probably be forced to fight a guy like Pavlik or Abraham if he wants a big fight. He will also have to take less to do it. Trust me, they think he can possibly beat both Pavlik & Abraham but they dont really want to find out any time soon. If they had there choice he would be fighting guys at WW and right now he cant get it. Shoot, he may have even had an Oscar fight right now if he didnt have that L. I could see Oscar fighting him if he had that status

Because any promotion for any BIG fight, would have all the details in it

Only ONE loss, immediately avenged by a 1st round KO

has beaten every man hes ever faced.
