No, Ricky...you didn't "come in 2nd" the last time you fought The P4P #1...

Funny, it was the exact opposite with the Floyd vs DLH fight, that fight seemed even closer once I re-watched it, not taking anything away from Mayweather.
I do agree since the first time I watched it I scored it way higher for Floyd over Oscar but even then on repeats I had him winning pretty easy as I don't tend to count "rabbit punches" in the clinch. Just not the way I was taught scoring....

I just didn't see Oscar doing anything at all, and the only reason I scored it closer upon repeat viewings was I noticed more inactivity from Floyd than I noticed before resulting in a few swing rounds here and there.

the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning: the irony of her reply, “How nice!” when I said I had to work all weekend.
        2. Literature.
        a. a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.
        b. (esp. in contemporary writing) a manner of organizing a work so as to give full expression to contradictory or complementary impulses, attitudes, etc., esp. as a means of indicating detachment from a subject, theme, or emotion.

No, Ricky didn't come in 2nd on the pound for pound ratings, and viewing a knockout loss as anything but a bitter defeat suggests a bit of self delusion, but I can't grasp why anyone would dislike Hatton. He fights hard enough, has a decent attitude, seems like a genuine guy, and doesn't talk much trash, really.

If anything, when I hear Ricky talk about 'coming in 2nd' the last time he fought a top pound for pound fighter, it told me more about his mindset. He's not able to just fully swallow the way he lost, especially to Floyd, and has a need to stay positive.

Boxing is very mental, too. Hatton can't go against Pacquiao with doubts or he'll lose, so I don't begrudge him twisting his mind a bit to stay optimistic.

how could floyd make it brutal? hatton was crowding floyd all the time.

nice try to make you feel better about it...
I wonder if his implication was that by losing to the #1 P4P, then he should be #2 P4P. Hatton is not a complete moron, and nobody ever says "I came in 2nd in a boxing match".

Sooo, perhaps Ricky is taking an "Olympic viewpoint" on this where Floyd got the gold, and he got the silver.

Does he feel that he is - or should have been - #2 P4P? I ask this because he keeps talking about being #1 if he beats Pac. He seems dead set on it.

He also believes he would be #1 if he won, but the "coming second" thing is a joke. I promise!

How can some of you not see this as a joke?
Hatton has joked numerous times about getting beat by Floyd.
