Fights like Winky/Williams had no reason to be at the Mandalay Bay. That fight should have been somewhere close to one of the fighters hometowns like in Florida or the Carolinas. That was one of the dullest crowds I had ever heard for a fight.

You're missing a big factor - the fight was in Las Vegas and Vegas is a ghost town right now because of the economy. No one is going there for vacations anymore.

It was a mistake having the fight at Vegas. If you look at most all fights this year, they have been non-Vegas venues and they've been selling very well.

My understanding is Winky demanded the fight be at Vegas though, for whatever reason.

The ONLY fights that will sell well in Vegas right now are the super stars, like Pacquiao, Mayweather, etc. That's about it.

When I read the thread title, I thought this was about Margarito-Cotto.

Because the clock's against him and pigs want to see him lose. You see prime Mayweather was as much of a draw as Williams is now. I was there i know it. The economy was different but the same fking people... The way for these guys to make money is only one. RACE. Yes i've said it. Williams, Kirklands and even Angulo should start chasing down Abrahams and Pavliks and use the Hopkins technique to get them to fight because you know they will try to avoid a prime Williams. Black vs White will ALWAYS sell. So these young brothers need to start cracking, for real...
