Pavlik would be too much for Williams. Not hating on Williams but early when Winky was throwing a little he was keeping it at least kinda close giving himself a chance to win the rounds. Winky was able to land with his right hand some nice shots and this was a a old washed down slow Winky. of course he tired out early! Against Pavlik he would be fighting a stronger man in his prime that has a very good work rate that can be deadly with his right hand. Ever since Pavlik lost to Hopkins people have been underrating him like crazy!!! There's no shame in losing to an ATG fighter that probably should have got the decision over Calzaghe before the pavlik fight!!!

Ignore that fool with the weight class
comment. It's one of the dumbest things ever written here. Here is how this happened, noone would fight him at 147, so he moved up and started calling everyone out. The Pavlik fight never happened cuz he had no name at MW. Then he got called out by Serg to fight in Europe, it fell thru (wold u do it? Prob not). The Kirkland called him out after he took the Winky fight. Paul said he would fight kirk if he had a belt. Kirk is fighting Dzidrinik for a belt. Abraham and pavlik have business to take care of. Pwill fights winner of kirk v dzidy and winners fight.

I wrote this in another thread so I will just repost it here:

Thats old news and Merchant talked about it last night but I disagreed with him. I think Merchant is saying that Williams cant keep saying that no one will fight him because Pavlik offered him good money and they turned it down. I dont think thats a fair statment because Williams hadnt really done anything at MW at the time. He was basicaly still a WW then with zero or 1 fight at 154 and only 1 recent fight at MW and that was against a bum. He wouldve been a fool to fight Pavlik right then without knowing could he really handle a true MW. Thats why Ive been saying that I think last nights fight had alot to do with Williams future. I think his team wanted to fight Winky at MW to see how they can do against a good MW but he's not a big strong enough MW to kill Williams. Its the perfect test. Now I could see him feeling way more confident in fighting a guy like Pavlik, compared to what he was when they were 1st negotiating

why not williams against ivan calderon at 147 to prove how good williams really is?
Calderon would get disqualified because of low blows.

He felt Winkys shots and was there to be hit, without ever really hurtng Winky. Pavlik would lose rounds, but would eventually slow Williams down and stop him. Like I said, he isnt hard to hit, and if you have the power to hurt him, you will. Pavlik wont be winning rounds because these days throwing 100slap punches is how you win a round, so Kelly will stick to landing the hard shots. Enough will land and Paul will take a nap. Taking bets if this fight ever happens. Pavlik by KO.

Larry Merchant had his "hater" hat on......B-Hop was schoolin' Pavlik and Merchant refused to say Kelly had been "EXPOSED".......now he says Paul turned down a dance with Pavlik when Pavlik even said in one interview that he didn't take the Williams fight because he wouldn't get credit for beatin' a WW......not Williams didn't want it .......Merchant's a clown!!!

I wanna see Williams and Kirkland at 154 or Williams and Miranda at a catch.....maybe 165......then take the winner of Pavlik-AA.........those are fights he can win as well as lose.....the Winky fight was a gimme with a name......be real!!!.......Winky looked old and rusty bringin' a 1-1-1 record from his last 3 fights into ring after a 20 something months layoff......this was a gimme for Paul!

Hell naw, bro. Miranda KHTFO, like flat Out. It will take only 1 Miranda Punch to end that ****, so hell no. Paul definately have the workrate, but he doesnt have power to back Miranda off, 1 right hand and Williams is done. Hell Kirkland gets schooled by Willaims, but 2 flush shots from Kirkland and William is done!!!!

Paull Williams ill get Beat by people with a big punch, he is way too open, and he will get laid out on his back by some of this guys you mention, if not by all of them!!!!

Paul Williams is still overrated in my humble opinion. With williams it comes to down the fact he throws alot of punches, rather than how skilled or talented he is. He is there to be hit with all sorts but wright executed the wrong gameplan by coming at him straight on. Angles beats williams, he cant see Hook, particularly left hook or left leads, or punches which aren't coming from straight on. This is how quintanta beat him. To beat williams its about angles and timing.

Its difficult to put into words, but williams is very a difficult fighter to beat rather than a super talented boxer imo, he throws alot of punches and judges dont give a f.uck if they land or not, this is what makes him awkward, if i was confident in the ablity of a judge to score landed punches, I would certainly give floyd mayweather a good chance against him, potentially cotto as well, thats just at 147, I need to see how forrest is doing at 154 too, Abraham is overrated to hell, but his wide punching might see him prevail against williams at 160, and I heard the possiblity of chad dawson in the future, if that happened at 168 dawson deffo hurts him.

Difficult fighter to beat, not necessarily as good as people think.
