Williams Can Beat Pavlik and Abraham, Says Wright

Former undisputed junior middleweight champion Winky Wright took a beating from Paul Williams on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Williams, fighting in a differing weight class for the fourth time in a row, is looking to move down and look for bigger fights with guys like Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto, who are welterweights. Williams has an interim-title at junior middleweight, but he dominated a very game Wright at the middleweight level. [details]

Williams will have to wait, let Pavlik and Abraham fight first, then Williams fights the winner.

Pavlik vs. Williams would be an interesting enough ppv to buy, but it will never happen...Top Rank seems hell bent on overprotecting its various cash cows. Perhaps oddly, I could see Williams beating Pavlik, but I could see Williams losing to Arthur Abraham. Abraham doesn't throw his hands as often as fans would like, but when he does, he cracks hard. It's a different style of power than the volume punching Pavlik has, while Pavlik tends to get KO's around round 7 on average, due to the volume wearing his opponents down, Abraham does have instant hard power right out of the gate. Both have unique styles and both are equally exciting. Williams would be a great opponent for both, but he can change weight classes so may go down to find bigger names, as I can see Top Rank keeping Pavlik away from challengers for a while now, and Arthur seems unwilling to not just leave his country, but not even leave his city.

What do you expect him to say?
