Some of these heavyweights are just lucky that because they have a bit of skill and there's very little depth to the division, they can get away with being in their comfort zones.

If there were decent fighters who fought at a high intensity level, these guys would be shown up.

Sure I agree that the lack of talent in the division has a lot to do it but I'm not starstruck by the word pro I just think it's laughable that an average man somehow is equal to even the crappiest "pro" athlete. I don't know if I respect the sport more than you or what but it takes a lot more than what the average man has to offer to be a pro otherwise that defeats the whol definition of the world. If being in moderate shape is all it requires to be a "pro" athlete then we coud all be pro's.

Everyone understands what you are getting at man but also like someone said a lot of people could just get in the ring and hang on or run for 10 rounds if they have the chin for it.

I've seen tons of overweight guys do things that I couldn't in my wildest dreams do but overall they are not in great shape they are very gifted and talented though.

Was James Toney in better shape than Holyfield?
Was Buster in better shape than Tyson?

Come on there is a difference great cardio doesn't always mean you are 'in shape' just that you are in great cardio shape.

fell ya. Im in the gym 5 days a week and Im 6'1" 214lbs between about 8.5-10% bf depending on the week. I can spar 6 full contact rounds but Im dead for about 3 days afterwards. So I know I cant go pro, but Id be willing to step in there with Gabe.

Who cares look at George Foreman old and fat and was still one of the best during a pretty good heavyweight era.

Like I said everyone here is right in their own ways but not all boxers have to look like Roy Jones or prime Mike Tyson.
It's going to come down to the style of fighter you are and the skills you have.
Sure some fighters would be much better if they stayed in better shape but some are also fine where they are at everyones body reacts different to weight change.

I myself find myself to get tired easy and am not as strong when I lose weight and i'm able to keep my speed without losing so why would i other than to look better

But thats what matters and it's also your overall skill level. I mean seriously what does great abs do for you if you have no cardio? I see it all the time especially when you think about all the times Wlad has gassed in big fights over the years. **** I watch MMA all the time and I see these really fit muscular guys gassing all over the place yet the chubby guy in my sig has the best cardio among HW MMA fighters and is ranked among the top 3 PFP fighters in MMA.

I'm just saying if you have great cardio but a less than pleasing body would nice abs and great pecks really do anything for you in a boxing match??

There is only one fatty in the division that I can think of who can throw punches all 12 rounds, that being Alexander Povetkin. He threw about 900 punches at Eddie Chambers and amazingly he was sick with the flu, or at least that is what his manager claims. 900 is about double the heavyweight average. The question is, can he do it against an opponent who is fighting back?

Well they're obviously not equal in skill, but I'd say a hell of a lot of them are in better shape than some of these guys, and that's embarrassing for the so-called professionals. You're saying about respecting the sport? Do you think these guys are respecting the sport coming in overweight? Boxers and other people in combat sports deserve credit when it's due as they're out there putting themselves at risk for our entertainment, but by no means am I blinded by the fact they're professional sportsmen.

There are lots of people out there putting their lives at risk in civilian jobs. I respect them a lot more than any boxer or other sportsman, fit or not.

Having to much muscle is the same as having to much fat it takes a ton of oxygen and blood flow to make it work, neither is a good thing in boxing.

True I don't know if you will ever see a Butterbean who's a 100 punch per round fighter.
It's more a matter of the weight fitting the style at that point.
