I was wondering, how do most of you rank fighters p4p or in individual weight classes? Do you accept what organizations and other publications decide? What about controversial fights? I don't know about some of you but where I perceive a fighter to be among other fighters depends solely on how I personally scored a particular fight. So there could be a hypothetical scenario where there were 3 controversial decisions where I disagree with all of the official scoring thus my rankings would be different from the "official" ones. I am bringing this up because I get the general feel that most people just accept rankings even if they disagreed with a decision(s) which put a particular fighter wherever they are above others in the rankings. Is my perception of other fans incorrect? How do you personally rank fighters?

I do My own Rankings(Click the link My RANKINGS in my sig), but based on official results.
But most people go by the ring Magazine, specially their P4P list. Wich I dont do. Because P4P is based on you opinion on the matter!!! -
Yes and in a many cases so are fights.....important ones too.Comment

I don't, I just have a problem with the ease they rank fighters higher than others based on razor close decisions. Also fighters having 1 fight in a new weight class jumping the rankings over good established fighters in that particular weight class.Comment

I agree with this.
I mean the have PW number 2 at 154? WTF? They have Pac at number 5 at WW, thats idiculous, and so and so.
They have Nate Campbell number 10 at JWW, and the Mo FO has not even fought there yet!!!!!!1
SO I agree with you!!!!!!!Comment

All of those are great points, especially the Pac example, I mean the fight with DLH was more of an exhibition and had no title implications at 147 whatsoever.Comment

I think if you are a establish fighter in another division you have to beat people ranked in the Top 10 in that other division your fighting at, to be ranked.
And to be ranked top 5 you have to beat people in the top 5.Comment

I generally do my own rankings. I look at rankings of bodies and publications also, because I think general perception is important, and not so arrogant that I rely totally on my point of view, as it may be biased (just like anyone elses can be) even if its subtle and not concious.
As far as viewing results, I do give some weight to how I see a fight (as opposed to judges, publications, and sometimes general consensus), but in the end the results are the results. So if the fight goes the distance, the rules say 3 judges make the decision on who wins. So I can ***** and moan about a decision all I want (I usually temper my outrage better than most on here) in the end it is still the result. As I said before I do use my own perception to give weight and place things in to context as far as giving someone credit for a win, but in the end it is still the winner that gets the credit.
We can't just say results didn't occur just because we dont agree. I mean what can we do, go back to the days when there were newspaper decisions?Comment
