That retirement homes across the land quaked in fear when they saw him approaching.

Many flaws, but definitely had consistency. One of UK's best.

He was due to fight this bloke as a farewell fight, then pulled out through injury, then said he had nothing to prove by fighting the guy, then he agreed to the fight because the money was right, then pulled out again because the bloke wasnt a draw.

I'll tell them Calzaghe was basically a very good Boxer-Slapper with a contrived, undefeated record and a smoke and mirrors resume....

I will also tell them about how we deeply affected and thoroughly Owned all of his nationalistic, overzealous, uneducated, and completely biased superfans on the internet...

I would say he did a great job and just because he didnt come to america earlier doesnt mean he wasnt a great fighter. I would back this up by saying that a lot more european fighters hold belts than their american counterparts proving that beating bums in europe is harder than beating bums in america.

Its a pity he didnt fight jones or hopkins 5 years ago, but it takes 2 to tango. Noone was willing to leave their back yards and take the major risks, fair enough boxing made joe rich in the uk, it made him even richer by beating jones and hopkins when he did. Hopkins did turn around and demand more money when a fight was nearly there in 2001. Joe actually fought everyone of note in the smw division over the years except ottke, but ottke turned down a purse from warren on a few occasions as far as i know. So he did very well for himself overall id say.

A better resume than 27 year old Paul Williams? Wow...what an accomplishment.

Some Italian warrior, not even from Italy. LOL.

Calzaghe was arguably the best boxer to ever come out of britain.
Stayed undefeated 4 a long time.
Got hated on but nobody could beat him.
People said he slapped but nobody could stop him.
Didn't fight hopkins or Jones when they were young but they didn't exactly offer him a fight. hand injuries/divorce/Frank Warren didn't help.

Looks Italian? What does that even mean? What is Italy? the village of the damned where everyone looks the same? WTF.

"Hey that guy looks chinese, let's call him the Chinese Warrior. Yeaahhhh!"

I'm Italian, I don't look a damn like Joe Calzaghe.

At least call him the Italian-Welsh Warrior, except minus the warrior part.
