How much of a role does looking good play in a fighter's career?

The reason I ask is because almost every single time that Oscar's career is put into perspective, his "handsome, movie star looks" are always mentioned.

It's what makes stars. You need to pull the women in like Oscar or be scary like Mike. But there arent many ugly "stars" in any sports. People need something they can put a face on to sell to people.

When you look at all the ugly boxers who are famous its not true... In sports like football it plays a part, but even then you got goons like Teddy Sheringam who are quite ugly.
