If there was only 8 weight classes, what would happen??

    traditional divisions

    Flyweight (Maximum 112 pounds)
    Bantamweight (118)
    Featherweight (126)
    Lightweight (135)
    Welterweight (147)
    Middleweight (160)
    Light Heavyweight (175)
    Heavyweight (unlimited)

How would the Top 10 look like for each divisions. Which fighters would be forced to move down or up

that's the way it should be. damn, in a perfect world. That and one belt per division.

The difference in weight with the current system doesn't really matter now any way since 95% of the fighters regain weight so by fight night they are 1 to 2 weight divisions higher. A few pounds in boxing isn't that big of a deal, people take weight way to seriously on here. 5 pound difference, ha! "Pacquiao only fought at 130, no way he'll make it at 135!"

There's nothing wrong with 17 divisions, if the top fighters actually fought each other....Maybe some of the smaller weight classes like Flyweight-Minium could be merged, but that would still make 14. It's fine the way it is...

**** would be a lot cooler. And it would be easier to explain boxing to noobs because noobs are confused by the million weight classes.

There would be an even bigger disparity in size between boxers than there is now.

I was reading a ring magazine from 1956 today, and it's amazing having just those divisions.

                It's great looking back.

When this magazine was published, Marciano was heavyweight champ and Robinson was middleweight champ.

I actually sort of like the way the weight classes are now.

except the very low weight guys. seriously, theres like a 3lb difference between those weight classes. thats nothing, and the lower weight fighters arent doing themselves any good by havin that many weight classes either no one pays attention to those guys when there that many small divisions.

from 125 and below, there should only be featherweight, bantamweight and flyweight.

Ricky hatton would have more losses with havin to fight at 147.
