  • Hatton Learned From De La Hoya's Mistake With Pacquiao

With less than a month to the May 2 clash with Manny Pacquiao, the once-beaten Ricky Hatton is only ten-pounds above the junior welterweight limit and doesn't plan to make the same mistake as his promoter and close friend Oscar De La Hoya. Last year, De La Hoya drained himself to get down to the agreed upon weight of 147 for the December fight with Pacquiao. Over the last few years, De La Hoya had been fighting at junior middleweight and middleweight - but he was down to 145 a few weeks before the fight with Manny. De La Hoya was so drained that his body barely rehydrated from the weigh-in, and 24 hours later, when he stepped in the ring to fight, he only put on two pounds - going from 145 to 147 - while Pacquiao, the much smaller man, went from 142 to 148.5. Styles should determine this fight more than weight issues.

Hopefully they'll both come in 110% ready for the fight, and not have excuses afterwards for why they lost.

all this alleged size advantage ricky has is such a dishonest perpetrated myth. He's only half a inch taller (according to some websites, some have him listed at 5'6 others 5'7 1/2) if u look at pictures taken w/both of them they are almost identical in height. But as for other physical attributes manny trumps him in wrist, calf, fist, leg size & reach. they're both gonna weigh in @ 140 but a lot of hoopla how much hatton is gonna rehydrate to 150-54. They forget Manny will also rehydrate to around 147-48. He wont stay at 140.

Based on that, whats Ricky's supposed size advantage? I can understand if ricky just dwarfs manny in every physical aspect but he doesnt. He barely has any.

Guns dont kill people, people kill people. Size dont win fights, fighters wins fights.
