what a mess of a career. Id look him up, but I have feeling that no footage exists of him.

Ive heard about that too, although he did lose that one match he did. still crazy.

Mamby had a real mess of a career, but he was pretty good at his best.
There's quite a lot of footage availble of Fitzsimmons. Including his HW titlefight with Corbett and the invention of the solar-plexus punch.

Nelson absolutely counts. The guy retired, came back at 38 and knocked out two prime champs in back to back bouts (Ruelas & Leija). Not to mention it's rumoured he's at least 3yrs older than his listed age.

Well that fight itself wasn't legitimate. Although Azumah looked good for a 50yr old lol. But in terms of this thread, he's a prime example of a fighter who performed exceptionally past his prime.

Nelson did have some good performances in his late 30's though.

He was around 38 years of age here against Jesse James Leija:

I'd also mention the man in my avatar, Mike McCallum. No one was sure of his age, some would say he was years older but either way he was able to compete at a high level in his late 30's.
