    Question: What if Cotto loses?

I'm on the record in saying Cotto will win this fight by UD. I just wanted to know IF Clottey beats Cotto, even knocks him out, where does Cotto go from there?

I think this would be a much more devastating loss for Cotto than Clottey IMO. Cotto is still considered an elite fighter pound for pound and he cannot afford another loss at this moment.

Clottey on the other hand, will come in with nothing to lose and as a clear cut underdog. Kind of similar to what happened with Marg vs Cotto.

If he loses to Clottey, depends on how... if it is close, then its understandable because its Clottey, who I believe in unbelievably underrrated...

If Cotto gets his ass whooped, then Marg definitely took something out of him...

If Cotto losses, which I think can happen (still going for Cotto though), I think it will be a while before we hear him fighting big names.

Clottey has been the toughest matchup at WW for a while
If Cotto loses badly, he won't be fighting any of the tops names unless he can redeem himself by fighting his way back up the rankings, maybe a fight with Berto?
Saying that, Mosley may be interested in a rematch.

Cotto just goes back into the Welterweight pool. He'll have to win some more mid-level fights and work his way back to get another title shot somewhere down the line. It's not so devastating that his career would be completely derailed or anything because Clottey is a good fighter, but it'd certainly do away with the notion of him (Cotto) being an elite fighter. It's not like Cotto losing to someone like Jennings though. That would have been awful.

He won't so I don't care to speculate, but if he does we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

I just think that he should beat a Clottey easily IMO. A lot of people think it will be close but I just see Cotto's speed and boxing on another level than Clottey.

I also don't think that Clottey is as strong or can take the pucch Marg can in order to fight that same type of fight.
