No,it just looked like more of the same was coming his way.

Lewis didn't want to fight Mike in that time, he even said so himself. He said that Mike would have killed him. That why Lennox fought him in 2001 when Mike was all Old, Slow, and Beatable. You want to know the big difference: Tyson at that point didn't have the same belief he could win, that he was really the best...that he was ready to face the best. That is why he also avoided Lewis and only fought Holyfield because he thought Holyfield was past his best. Tyson was fighting for weed money and to pay back Uncle Sam (and the kids). Or so it is said.
Atlas had a better answer on this about the way Tyson spoke at that point compared to when he was on top (with Rooney). It went from believing you are unbeatable and saying you refuse to lose, refuse to get hurt, to psychologically preparing yourself for the worst by saying you've been poor before and lost before, etc. etc. etc.
Mentally and Physically you must prepare to be at your best. When was the last time Tyson was prepared like that at his best?
He made a lot of costly mistakes.Comment

You mean 1996 when Tyson paid millions to not fight Lennox Lewis as his mandatory?
Lewis said that he would've been no match when Tyson was in his prime and he was still in the amateurs. I think everyone can agree with that.Comment

thats what i meant. I got the times mixed up.
But which belt was it where Lennox was his mandatory?Comment

Mike Tyson's career = 101 excuses. The man was an exciting fighter, but he got found out because he was lacking mental stability. The man who exposed it was the complete opposite of that. Holyfield probably one of the most durable mentally strong champions of that era.Comment

IMO, Prime v Prime.
Tyson takes a UD.
Fact of the matter is, Tyson's career ended when he went to Prison.
His record before Prison and after prison says it all.Comment

You're buggin'.
Tyson had a big third round is such a fallacy. he came out throwing like the wind and 30 seconds later (when Holyfield had weathered the storm--more like a drizzele, actually) the fight reverted to the same thing that had been going on the previous two rounds.
Tyson was in better shape but, from the looks of it, so was Holyfield. ****, he might not have even lost the third round if the fight continued.Comment

As for that **** Mills Lane, he never gave Holyfield warnings for any of the dirty stuff.
He was just sticking up for the fellow bald guy.Comment
