    Quit overrating Valero

This happens pretty much anytime a fighter comes along with a little bit of "pop". He knocks out some guys and the general public and casual fans instantly fall in love with him and label him a world beater.

Not that long ago I remember comparisons of Kermit Cintron to Tommy Hearns........

The bottom line is Valero is a pretty good fighter, but that's about it from all I've seen of him.

He was very sloppy last night against Pitalua, particularly when he was going in after the first knockdown.

I didn't see the "calm, calculated finisher" that the commentators told me he was.

I saw a guy who was headhunting, missing half his shots, and having the other half of his shots either partially blocked, or barely grazing Pitalua while he tried his best bob and weave.

LOL @ the Valero hype train.

The last person I can remember in my mind that got KO'd that fast for a title match Jones vs. Tarver and Tyson vs. Berbick. No hype when you can do it under 2 and win a major title. That's some serious work.

I think he could beat some (most) fighters off of power alone. Like Juan Diaz. I like Juan Diaz, but his style seems like it would get laid out by Valero.

Funeka vs Valero would be an interesting fight because it seems like Funeka could easily outbox him, but then again KTFO like he almost was against Campbell.

        I'm not deying his power.

But from what I can see, he's really not that skilled. He's a very sloppy finisher from what I can tell.

Pitalua's body was wide open, all night. And he didn't throw a single power shot there.

Most of his blows in the finish either missed, or barely grazed Pitalua.

He's a fun dude to watch, for sure.

But I think an Elite like Pacquiao or Marquez would put on a clinic against him unless they were foolish enough to get caught......

.......Which I guess is his appeal and the reason people are riding his **** so bad around here right now.

Do you think he's the destroyer of Manny Pacquiao, like many on here have claimed for the last year or so?

I'm not denying his punching power, or his exciting appeal.

It's his skill and resume' that I take issue with. Or lack thereof.
