What's the deal with taking a knee after getting up?

I'm torn on whether that should count as two knockdowns or not. I didn't have money on the fight and was actually rooting for Bradley based on Holt's pregame tantrum and tantrums throughout, but if you get up and then take another knee, do you think that should count as another knockdown?

If, during a fight, you take a knee based on punishment, it's a knockdown. Otherwise, why wouldn't more guys do this when they get floored and get up too soon?

I really don't know what the rule is or should be. A lot of refs will stop the fight if you get up and go down again without taking another shot. I know a lot of people are going to say well, shouldn't Berbick be called for three knockdowns when he kept getting up and falling over, but Berbick was never back on his feet. Curious what people have to say about this topic because I don't know what to think.

I'm leaning towards being fine with it as just one knockdown.

He got up and took a knee during the same 10 count, so it's just 1 KD. Off the top of my head, I think that's the 1st time I've seen that in a fight. I wasn't sure what the ref was gonna do about it.

No, because the referee was still counting and the fight was paused at that point.

I don't recall ever seeing that either, and being that Bradley is so young and had never been down in his career, I seriously doubt he knew about that rule.

I agree that if it's part of the same count, then it doesn't really matter. Good answer

I actually thought if you get knocked down and go back down again after getting up its an automatic stoppage.. Didnt they say that about what happened with Zab Judah when he got knocked down by Kostya?

I didn't see the point of it. It's not like he extended his recovery time, I don't think. Anytime you get knocked down isn't there a mandatory 8 count even if you pop right back up? He got off the knee at 8 so I'm really not sure what it even did.

But either way, it should definitely only count as one knockdown.

that definitely used to be the norm, if not the rule. I remember when that fight happened, everybody on the internet basically said it was a rule, but Showtime never specified. I think they said refs usually stop it in that case but no rule.
