Adrian Diaconu vs. Jean Pascal likely in June

In Montreal, Canada, newspapers are reporting that if Jean Pascal and Adrian Diaconu both win their fights today, they will fight for the WBC light heavyweight title in June. Statements to that effect have been made by both promoters, Interbox and GYM.

Pascal has been having trouble making 168 for awhile, and had trouble making it for today's fight (was overweight on his first attempt yesterday), so he is moving up to 175 anyway.

Diaconu was to have faced his mandatory Sylvio Branco this month, but Branco has been injured. Adrian and his promoter Interbox have requested permission from the WBC to take the voluntary defense in June.

    Could be interesting.

Why can't Diaconu get Dawson in the ring?

I think Dawson's promoter wants him to play it safe and not get into the ring with a prime LH who can punch, like his current mandatory Cloud or past mandatory Diaconu.

Dawson of course fought a strong puncher in Adamek, who floored him in that fight, but that was for his first world title. Since then, he has been matched carefully. He won't even rematch age 40 Johnson (a volume puncher with only moderate power).

Because Chad Dawson is fighting Tarver May 9th.....Also Dawson vs Dicanou has been made twice and twice it was cancelled.

Diaconu vs Pascal is a nice match-up,could go on ESPN altough I would have liked other match-ups for both.
Glen Johnson or George or Mack for Diaconu and Miranda or Lacy for Pascal.
Anyway if Pascal has his track shoe son he could use his fast hands to win but I think Diaconu wins this one,he is a strong puncher and also altough not big but physically strong. Both tend to tire late so for the first 5 rounds or so it could be a bran burner.

There's talk about it being on ShoBox, or Saturday night Showtime.

Will be interesting to see how Pascal bounce's back from the Froch fight tonight he came very close to winning that so if he does look good tonight Pascal vs Diaconu will be a good fight.

saw jean pascal for the first time for the froch fight and he looked absolutely shredded, he was ripped to the bone, its not a surprise that hes moving up in weight. having said that he doesn't look like a huge SMW like bika or kessler.

iv seen pascal fight froch and iv seen clips of him here and there but can anyone tell me more about him, what his style like, is he active, can he finish an opponent, does he have a good jab. who can he beat and how is he compared to taylor, kess, andrade, miranda, bute, lacy or bika.

i know that he has a damn good chin and can take a punch, vs froch he seemed fairly strong in the late round so his conditioning is good can anyone else tell me more about him strengths and weaknesses?

He's a wanna be jones and overrated due to the fact he gave a very exciting fight with Froch. He struggled with mediorce competition in Omar Pittman and is just not overly impressive.
