Pac don't counterpunch much. He'll obviously have more power steppin forward than goin back. But Hatton is more of a lunger than Pac is, so everything Pac lands will be landin on a guy who's rushin forward. Pac should be able to hurt Hatton in either posture.

pac's power comes from his legs. if he can't put his legs into his punches they won't be as powerful. so if hatton keeps pac on his backfoot then pac is in trouble.

the thing is pac has learned to turn his opponent. if he can turn hatton, hatton will be in big trouble...

regardless, hatton's only chane is to hold-n-hit. hatton's strength and size advantage will only be effective if he is allowed to grapple pac. with the right ref, hatton will win; with the wrong ref, hatton will lose.

Oddly enough Hatton said very similar things to what you are saying, regarding getting him on the back foot.

I tell you what, for a few weeks now I've thought hatton can pull this off, but as i've said in my thread, I think Hatton is gonna rush manny, and move right into the left hand. I know roach thinks the same thing, I think hatton thinks he can get away with this because its 140 and he might use a jab, but he's gonna get caught out trying to get in. His only chance is to use some ring smarts, move away from the left, get inside that way, but he keeps talking about being on the front foot and how its a different story at 140. I think he's overrating the weight advantage he has. It only means something if he can get inside without taking big shots, if he cant, his weight doesnt mean as much imo.

I agree with you there, the more I hear Ricky talking about his weight advantages the more I worry that he'll be surprised stepping into the ring with Pacquiao, he definately needs to box smart.

Hatton have to box smart to win this one. Relying on his weight advantages will be a big mistake. Pacquiao used to spar bigger than Hatton and will surprise him that Pacquiao might be stronger than him.

You wil see that everytime Hatton tries to rush in, like he does, Pacquiao will meet him with a 4 punch combo, that Hatton wont be able to defend against.

Pac is not a 1 Punch KO artist, but I guarantee you, that after 5 or 6 rounds of eating combos Hatton will get broken down and TKO!!!!!!!
I agree that it isnt Pac's power but more his speed. But I dont know about Pac getting off 4 punch combos before Hatton gets inside. Watch the PBF-Hatton fight and see how fast Hatton is on his feet, he got inside very fast and PBF could only get 1-2 shots off max.

Also in that fight Hatton came straight forward with no headmovement or defense. PBF Sr will tweak Hatton a bit to give him more movement coming inside.

yeah, at most pac gets 1-2 shots on hatton coming in.

if hatton uses head movement it will be alot tougher for pac to land on hatton coming in.

He dropped Marquez hard with a counter in the second fight. If he can slide and counter ala Floyd with the right shot, he could hurt Hatton but we still don't know how much power he brings above 130. He bludgeoned Diaz and had to hit Oscar about 200 times before he had him wobbling.

What the hell are you going on about? With the wrong ref Hatton will lose? Are you kidding me?

If Hatton losses, it'll be solely based on the fact that he cant handle Pac's fury of punches. This and Pac's speed.

Dont make excuses for Hatton losing even before the fights happened.

Also, if Pac is too quick for Hatton then it'll be difficult for Hatton to hold him.

Hatton needs the right strategy for this fight. His fight strategy against Floyd was terrible.
