    Fernando Montiel, underrated fighter!

Fernando Montiel is one of the most underrated fighters in the game today.I think he is one of the most complete boxers in the world. He has good technical skills, good defense,he is fast, hand has very good power.I think he is the best boxer from Mexico(skillwise)right now.J.M.M was better in his prime, but lately he has been getting hit to much, and has been in to many wars.I think age is catching up to him .Montiel is much fresher, and excluding the Melendez fight ,he has not been in any wars.He has won belts in 3 divisions and still has many years left in the game.I don't understand why so many Mexicans would root for a cheater like Margarito, when we have a more talented fighter in Montiel.I think Montiel will have a very good 2009 and should be in the top ten p4p list should he fight, and beat Morel and Darchinyan. What do you guys think about him?

Of course he has a shot, though i'd pick the favourite Darchinyan to win.

I think he has a very good shot.I don't think Vic has a great chin, not glass but kind of shaky.I think Montiel has the power and experience to stop Vic.Mijare couldn't gain his respect with those pillow punches, and although Arce does have power and did have him hurt at one point, he did not have the skills to capitalize on it.I think Donaire already showed us what a well rounded boxer with decent power can do to Vic,and I think Montiel has more power then Donaire.Although I have to admit Vic has improved very much after that fight.

I think he's a very good fighter, well schooled and has good speed and power. He's not as good as JMM though and he's erratic, he can look great in one fight and look pretty bad in the next, he would probably be ranked higher if he were more consistent with his performances.

How tall is Montiel? Donaire's win over Vic, apart from his power and skills, was in large part due to his height advantage. He used it very well obviously, but, if Montiel is taller than Darchinyan then he has a very good chance.
