    * Flyweight (Maximum 112 pounds)
    * Bantamweight (118)
    * Featherweight (126)
    * Lightweight (135)
    * Welterweight (147)
    * Middleweight (160)
    * Light Heavyweight (175)
    * Heavyweight (unlimited)

    The distances between weights meant if you could keep moving up and winning.. That it really was a feat to behold..

    Add in the "1 belt" per division , a Multi division Champ was Totally something to boast about..

    Now with 4 belts qualifying as "Champs" and the split divisions.. the odds of being a Multi weight champ have increased 1200% making it much less an accomplishment..

    Still something to be proud of when fishing for accolades.. But not an instant criterion for ATG status.. like it was back in the day..

    Great post, and very intelligently stated..... Some of the wanna be pundits on here should read posts like this before quoting their self serving stats again for the 10000th time.

    Too bad they have their heads so far up their favorite fighters' butts that it wouldnt even give them a second's pause.

        The thread starter made no reference to Mayweather....

        Why are his fans suddenly so defensive?

          which is why, especially in this day and age, its better to go by who a fighter beats more than meaningless statistics.

          Id also like to add that its very easy to go up and down in weight nowdays, because of the day before weigh ins. a natural 160lber can fight at 135lbs all the way to 160lbs and still be in good shape nowadays.

          wasnt so easy with the same day weigh ins. you fought at your natural weight class, and if you moved up you weighed less than your opponent. nowdays you have guys moving up two weight classes, and still weighing more than the weight limit the night of the fight

          I agree with everything except the bold part. I strongly disagree with the bold part.

                Can't escape your own concious.... Sign of a weak mind

                Way to miss the original point.... he was just commenting on the devaluement of calling oneself a multi-division champ. Pick out something he said that wasnt true.

                  why? look at some of the Welterweight that fight at 147, but weigh 180lbs regularly. same thing.

                  hell, look at someone like Guerillimo Jones. he fought at 147lbs and did well, and now as a Cruiserweight belt holder. and no offense to him, but hes nothing that special.

                      Idk man, As a boxer and seeing other boxers and pro boxers, I just really strongly disagree with going up and down in weight easily and a natural 160 pounder making 135. Don;t get me wrong, I see your point, It's just the easy and the natural 160 pounder making 135 just seems a little bit farfetched in my book. No hard feelings. I know what your point is though tiger.
