Why has Calzaghe retired? I don't know. He says he hasn't got the desire any more and if that's true then he's better off retired - a boxing ring is no place for someone who's solely fighting to enhance his already overflowing bank balance. I'd love him to fight Dawson but it ain't going to happen - all about money these days and he just doesn't bring any. A sad state of affairs but it's the world we live in.

I like Froch but he's a **** who's called out Calzaghe for years from the safety net of never having a cat in hell's chance of stumping up the profile or cash to bring that fight to fruition. Plus he wasted his best years fighting absolute no marks who wouldn't even stand up to a Pudwill, Sobot or McIntyre let alone a Mitchell, Brewer, Eubank or Kessler.
Good points and it seems that Technical_Skill is just as pathetically obsessed with Calzaghe as Froch is. He repeats the same disingenuous arguments ad nauseam in any thread that has even the most tangential link to Calzaghe. Maybe he's a jilted lover of Joe's, he acts like one.

Ermm Who gives a f.uck, the comparisions im making about froch and calzaghe are about 1st defences.

All Im saying is, froch is taking more risks at this stage of this career, than Calzaghe was when he was at this stage, which is a fact, because one defended their title 1st time against branko sobot and the other is going to the states to fight a guy who has 2 decisions over bernard hopkins. Notice that Taylor is possibly a better fighter than about 80% of the fighters calzaghe fought his entire career.

I have also given Calzaghe credit for wins a over lacy and said he would beat froch, hardly the words of a hater mate.

Cry me a river you soppy **** rag.
Froch has to take risks he's already over the hill in boxing terms and so low in skill level the first time he fights a genuine world level fight he'll get KTFO.

Eubank >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ANYONE on Froch's resume in terms of risk anyway, so frankly you're talking ****.

He was about 2 stone bigger than Ashira.

Manfredo needed 6 month to get up to the 12 St limit.

Froch was British and Commonweath Champion with Frankie Warren begging him to sign a contract with him????????????????

In world terms he was not highly rated until he beat Pascal. Even now he's only rated #6 by The Ring. If he beats Taylor he'll be considered an elite fighter, but not until then.

Fair point, but Ashira was ranked about 600 in 2 weight divs below.

Manfredo got beat up by Alfonso Gomez.

They had no place in a ring with Calz in a title fight

Ashira was just a tune-up for the Lacy fight. Joe beat Ashira with one hand, shutting him out on points. It he had struggled with Ashira, these arguments might nt be so pointless. Thing is, Joe had already beaten the likes of Eubank much earlier (age 25).

                  Eubank > Pascal + Taylor.

How old was Eubank, and what happened in his next two fights?

For once, answer the question, or keep quiet
