This why the need to put a cap on the HW division....To be a HW you will need to come down to the max limit 240lb .This will get them big boys in shape. Those natural big superHW can have their division. Or lose weight if so to fight in the HW. Now its a shame. And boring...we dont have that exciting draw anymore like this........
Is the heavyweight division an embarrassment to boxing?

On Friday, Peter seemed to tire whenever he put together a combination of punches.Comment

Being a conditioned fighter is very important. Carrying an extra 20lbs and not being as fit as possible limits your potential in the ring and is unprofessional. Ali was always in good condition ready to go 15 rounds. Foreman was indeed rather large, but he was beaten fairly easily by a young Holyfield in very good condition. Fedor is not a boxer. He obviously trains his body for a lot of different things. The bottom line is that these guys need to be in better shape.Comment

A lot of them just don't have skills. Forget being fat, they don't have the skills as boxers.
Toney is fat and can come in unmotivated and poorly trained but he still has a great foundation as a fighter. How many of the current crop of HWs have a good foundation?
Foreman put on a few pounds in his comeback but he still had a foundation and could go the distance.
Even the fighters in the 80's, many had a proper foundation. Their problem was inactivity and other bad habits (which many associate with King even thought the blame is around the table).
90's had some good HWs.
50's lacked as well but even though a lot were blown up middleweights and LHs, they still had a proper foundation and could give a decent performance even though they were older fighters.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 03-29-2009, 03:18 PM.Comment

My biggest complaint about the hw division now is the lack of competitive fights. I'm a fan of the Klitschkos but I don't particularly enjoy watching one dominant performance after another. I'd like to see either Klitschko pushed to the brink by a hungry opponent before pulling off the victory....Comment

the division is a joke
and im not talkin about US boxing, the whole division is embarrasing...
when you've got the klits who pretty much tower over all their outmatched opponents, sitting there putting on jab-n-clinch clinics, it not worth the time
a HW fight is not a fight i would EVER use to convince the casual fan to follow the sport...****, if there was ONLY the HW division, i dont think i would be a fan of the sport anymoreComment
