Andre Dirrell Kills Time Against Derrick Findley

By Cliff Rold - In a performance which started strong and then settled into tedium, 26-year old 2004 U.S. Olympic Bronze Medalist Andre Dirrell (18-0, 13 KO) of Flint, Michigan stayed undefeated to begin the fifth year of his professional career at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma. 24-year old opponent Derrick Findley (13-3, 8 KO) of Gary, Indiana showed heart but was so outclassed it forced the question of what a fighter as athletically talented and experienced as Dirrell is was doing in the ring with him at this stage of his career. Dirrell is ok but I would like to see him generate more pop in his punches. He can do some things pretty well overall though.

he fought like he knew the guy had no chance and just didn't want to hurt him.

      Dirrell needs a killer instinct

i still think he'll be champ in the division

It reminded me of Klitschko-Rahman, which I have been very quick to defend Klitschko for.

It is very convenient that I can keep doing that for one of my favorite fighters.

I also will say that it is hard to take someone out when they will not put their gloves down to try to generate their own offense. It was like punching an armored vehicle with no weapons to fire back with.

are you trying to say dirrell doesn't have enough pop when he rocked the guys head back constantilly in the first and second and looked like if he wanted he could of got the guy out of there who has never been stoped who fought andre ward who most think are better than dirrell and was very strong as he showed when he picked up dirrell with just his neck strength

I understand why Dirrell didn't do more on the lead, because maybe thats not his game (but with the overwhelming physical advantages he should have done more), but what about then the guy rushed him on a few occassions, Dirrell looked alittle confused at times as to what to do, when he should have gotten rid of Findley. I understood what was going on against Stevens, because Curtis was a fellow highly touted prospect, but Findley had nothing to offer, and Dirrell put on a subpar performance.

Uhhh? this is being discussed because? Dirrel level of comp has not changed since 2005....call me when a doctor can diagnosed Dirrell next opponent as legally alive.

One loss Hanshaw, unproven but undefeated Paschall (who looked much better than I thought he would) and one loss 26 for 26 KOs Oganov were corpses?

Apparently anyone who is not divisionally elite is a corpse to this observer...

This Findley **** was pretty unacceptable (regardless that he was a replacement, because the original, David Banks, is unacceptable too).

                  Queen is a complete moron.

Dirrells next fight will win him the WBO belt. After that the other champs will crap their pants at the thought of unifying with the matrix.

The fight was a waste of everyone's time, including Dirrell's. He didn't gain anything from that fight that he hasn't already learned from fighting the other D-level fighters he's faced.

We know what he can do against those guys. HE knows what he can do against those guys. Time to step it up.
