    Mandatory Fitness Tests for Heavyweights.

I think this is the only way to stop these unprofessional heavyweight fighters from turning up in bad shape. If they fail the test they don't fight, and therefore don't get paid. I bet they'd train a bit harder then.

unfortunately that's counterintuitive to business i.e. $$$ so it wouldn't ever fly.

Well it's up to the fans to boycott the fights involving these fighters. Something needs to be done, that's for sure.

This sounds good but would never happen. It would just cost commissions more $, so no way it flies.

Last night I was near ringside at a fight card in Richmond, BC where there was a heavyweight named Paul Cheng in his debut. His opponent, Teddy Adeoba, had no muscle and a big flabby belly. Cheng KOed him in 40 seconds.

Here is Adeoba's record (3 fights, KOed in round one 3 times):

Adeoba looked worse than you can ever imagine. People like that shouldn't be permitted to box professionally.

why not? Boxing is a PROFESSION should a fat janitor not be allowed to work and pay for his kids food?

Are you ****ing kidding me? Boxing is a profession that requires you to be as fit as you possibly can be. Not being as fit as you can be implies that your're not taking your JOB seriously. If a fat janitor can do his job just as well at 290lbs as he can at 180lbs, then there is no problem. If you're in a job that requires you to be fit, and you don't do your job properly because you're not fit, then you are not doing your job properly.

You've just won the award for the dumbest thing I've ever heard on this forum, and that's saying something.

Would you pay good money to go and see a band in a concert if they just showed up and didn't even try to sing properly and put on a terrible show? These people are professionals who's job it is to keep their body in good condition as it is their main income. The fact that they're full time pros and can't even stay in shape is an utter embarrassment to themselves and the sport.

If you saw the guy, you'd agree with me. He looked worse than you can imagine: no muscle and a huge belly.
