    I am TIRED of hearing...

People hyping over people that ranked highly in their division when they haven't really beaten anyone yet. And when after they lose ppl still hype the win because of how highly they were regarded they were at the time before the win. Recent examples Vitali over Peter loss to Toney and Chambers but ppl still hype his win because he was #2 ranked HW.Also Hatton over Malignaggi was ranked #2 but hadn't beaten Holt, Torres, Witter, Urango etc. And JMM win over Casamayor because he had the Ring title when Diaz and Campbell were better fighters in reality while he was dropped by Katsidis. Add more examples...

I agree wit the main point of the thread but these examples don't stick imo. VK over peter was big cuz of VK's long layoff, which was forced by injuries. It wasn't a big win cuz of Peter's caliber imo, just VK's circumstances, and the ease wit which he beat him. I thought paulie would beat hatton after how bad he looked previously, so I give him some cred, but in hindsight I agree that win wasn't too gr8. JMM's win over Casa was quality, and he's since followed by beatin Diaz, so it's hard to knock him.

I'm not trying to knock Vitaly, Ricky, or JMM. I'm saying Peter is not a world beater. Malignaggi best fight was against Cotto and hasn't looked that good since. I thought he would perform similar because it was a big fight but he didn't. And Casa is a good win but some ppl says its better than a win over Nate or Juan because he had ring belt which I don't buy.

          Peter DOMINATED Toney

Vitali came back after a 4 year layoff and DESTROYED Peter

Chambers fought the worst version of Peter, he was coming off that humuliating loss and weighed in at an all time high 265 lbs

Yeah of course I am just saying just because he was ranked #2 doesn't make the win any better when there are fighters actaully better and more skilled.

This is reasonable. Only reason anybody picked Peter is cuz VK had been off for so long and was older, kinda like the only reason anybody picks Pwill over Winky imo. I never really saw many cats praisin Hatton too much for beatin Paulie. That seemed to simply come off as a decent win, no more no less. JMM got his shine for stoppin Casa cuz it was his 1st LW fight and Casa was the recognized champ, certainly not cuz he was seen as more threatening than Diaz or Nate. I get your argument tho homey.

i dont care how old casa was, ring belt or not ... that was a solid win, and not only win stoppage something thats never been done before ... casa's one of the best boxers of the last 10 years imo..

also vit's domination and stoppage over peter after all that inactivity was real impressive. so was hatton stopping paulie who also has never been stopped ... those are all slid wins. maybe not career defining but solid none the less ...

I remember seeing some threads that Hatton beats Cotto because he stopped Malignaggi when Miguel didn't LOL
