He was the champion. Why would he rematch somebody he beat? Sure, it was on cuts, but as has been said they were from his gloves, not a clash of heads. Unlucky for Vitali, maybe, but there is no doubt whatsoever Lewis won (or 'won').

First, because he promised rematch and more important because he didn't really beaten Vitali not by score, not by dominating over Vitali and not by Klitchko or his team decision. Only a cut. So, I think honest REAL champion would give a chance to his opponent to resolve any doubts. But Lewis behave as coward. Maby he is not, but he acts so.

If Vitali couldn't whup a 43 year old retired Lewis that would be embarrassing. He has his chance against a faded 37 year old version and still lost.

After reading 2 threads about Vitali v lewis, im gonna have to watch the first one again today.
Oh and an old Vitali in 6 months time does some serious damage to a 6 year retired 400lbs lewis.
Lennox has nothing to prove and after being retired for this long has no business getting back into the ring. Look at the state of him, has he even seen the inside of a gym in the last 6 years?
It would take him 9 months just to get back down to 240ish.

....I don't think this fight would be remotely competitive. It would have been exactly the same thing if they had rematched right away. Vitali blows him out now or then.

I don’t think there is a fighter who gets so much credit for losing like Vitali does against Lewis. Taylor doesn't even get it when he took all that punishment against JCC

I really wish they had a rematch back in 2004. That would have been huge.

I wonder how Lewis is doing financially.
