Ok Norton was Old.. and Witherspoon was a typical 80's fighter who didn't quite have enough.. the typical 80's fighter was simply average at best

I was bigger fan of boxing in the 80's than I am now.. So you go by what you read.. and I will go by I actually witnessed..

You think people complain about it being bad now??? you should have heard people back then.. The best fighter the 80's had were Tyson and Holmes.. nobody else even came close.. the rest of the pack was so far behind..it was abysmal..

Same with Tyson's era, and while Holmes's resume might have been better this isn't to say that Home's era was better just like Vitaly's resume is better than Mike Tyson's this doesn't mean that Vitaly's era is better than Mike Tyson's era.

Holmes' era still smacks the **** out of the crap we watch today. There are two good heavyweights, zero great ones, and a crapload of nobodies

Erm Norton was 35 not that old really and Witherspoon was a "typical 80s fighter" ? LOL. I could name some more fighters if you'd like there was more than just Norton and Witherspoon but you already knew that. So either 1) You're trolling or 2) You're a nut-hugger. Don't insult my boxing knowledge btw "I WILL GO BY WHAT I WITNESSED U GO BY WAT U RED!" No, I witnessed it aswell or I wouldn't be commenting on the matter, you ****ing dolt.

Would Teddy call Larry Holmes a big man with some talent because everybody around him was "mediocre" or would he call him a great fighter?

Teddy's mind is cornered in the 70's, 80's.

In his prime Larry Holmes would run over Vitali Klitschko. The only reason this over sized Ukrainian dominates the division is because of the big fat losers he is lucky enough to face. To come to that conclusion all you have to do is look at the videos. Holmes can do things that Klitschko couldn't even dream about. Have you ever seen Klitschko snap the jab on the fly? Have you ever seen him make free flowing, fluidic movements? Holmes not only has longer arms than Klitschko he has faster hands. In a match against Klitschko, Holmes would have all the advantages.

The 80s had a lot of guys that had massive talent but lazy habits outside the ring. A guy that gets lost in the shuffle is Greg Page. He was arguably the most talented heavyweight of the past 30 years in my opinion but he liked to eat his twinkies, smoke his weed, never really got into real condition and wouldn't listen to anybody that tried to train him. Holmes was the guy from that era that had talent and worked his ass off to get where he did.

But you can read any old boxing magazine from the 50s till now and its just like today. They say the fighters of today suck compared to 20 years before. 25 years from now they will be talking about what a great era this was. Hopkins, Calzaghe, Klitschkos, Mayweather, Mosley, De La Hoya, and how great they were compared to the fighters that are around then. Personally I think this is a pretty good era, although pther than the Klits the heavyweight division is a mess.
