Thats what Ive been saying,

Mayweather vs. Baldomir and Mayweather vs. De La Hoya did more damage to boxing than good. Thats why Floyd is universally considered "boring" by casual fans. Thats why MMA stans use Floyd as an example of how "boring boxing is".

It doesnt matter if WE appreciate his style because we're hardcore fans because we don't keep the sport in the mainstream, casual fans are the reasons fights are on PPV and when you promise an all action fight with a climatic ending and you step in the ring and do absolutely the opposite, then you got a lot of pissed off customer who aren't satisfied with their service.

Proof of this was the 1.7 million peolple that DIDNT buy Hatton/Mayweather. Fights like Hopkins/Wright and Mayweather/De La Hoya/Baldomir shouldn't be PPV fights.

The Author of the article is right that Mayweather is the biggest US draw. I think the post here have kinda gone off tangent though. It seems like many people here are trying to say that Fans didn't support Mayweather Hatton because of the Oscar fight. Mayweather-Hatton was a successful PPV and I doubt anyone could have done those numbers in the US with Hatton. As far as him retiring early I get it but its over exaggerated what fights he left behind at the time. He left behind a great match-up in Cotto that should have taken place. The other names thrown around are done more as afterthoughts than the reality of the situation at the time.

I knew it was all bull**** but most casual fans tuned in to see this supposed toe to toe war. And it turned out to be anything but, Floyd tyurned a fight with DLH boring something we had never seen before.

I always felt the Oscar has been exciting. I didn't find the Mayweather fight boring by any means. Its not like Floyd ran from him though. He just didn't throw lots of punches when they were engaged in the middle when Floyd had the advantage. I did think Oscar would have turned up the heat and mix up because he was the bigger man and had punchers chance. I just wish Oscar let his hands go when they were in the middle of the ring more. He did when they were on the ropes. They both should thrown more I guess.
