I, 2501, would give Floyd total credit for just fighting Pacquiao. Even more if he were to beat him.
As far as JMM, no. We're talking about a natural Featherweight. JMM was a SMALL ass lightweight. he would be a tiny JR. WW. Imagine at WW?
If Floyd wants him as a tune up, then fine. But I dont see why he should get legacy credit for beating JMM. At the same time, if JMM wants a piece and loses, it HAS to affect him. There is no excuse when the fighter is willing right? I would move him down the P4P list.Comment

Pac no. Pac is a freak of nature. he's proven he can fight at 140 and 147. he's fast, a southpaw and strong. His speed and newly developed boxing skills can give floyd problems. You can quote me too, save it in your sig.

Look, I got you. You're saying that Mayweather should beat Marquez and I agree that he should. But when a great fighter beats another great fighter while they're still fighting at the championship level they get credit for doing so regardless of any size difference. This is true throughout the history of the sport.Comment

When your starting to become one of boxings or any other sports biggest names people are gonna start asking more of you whether its fair or not. Floyd had the chance to become a big figure in the US mainstream but he failed to impress the casual fan with his big talk but little action. Not to mention avoiding the big fights in the division that a lot people have been asking for a couple years now! What pisses me off about that is that Floyd was selfish when he could have made boxing a big deal here in the US again. No one questions floyds skills because God knows he is one of the most talented boxers in the history of boxing but most of us question his heart which is the real problem and his lack of heart hurt not only himself as far as legacy goes but it hurt the popularity of boxing!Comment

Do you give Marvin Hagler credit for beating Roberto Duran? Do you give Bernard Hopkins credit for beating DLH? Do you give Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali credit for beating Bob Foster? Do you give George Foreman credit for beating Michael Moorer?

The size difference between JMM and Mayweather isn't that big NOW style wise, it is a mismatchComment

JMM vs Casamayor is a good example. A lot of people felt that JMM was going to win easily because of Casa's boxing age, but as any hardcore fan knew, stylistically, the fight would be close. A fight between 2 thinkers will always be close.
When we talk about size, we should talk about amount of fights fought in or around the weight class agreed upon.
How many fights has JMM had at 140, 147 vs. Floyd? The body becomes condition to move at the weights depending on the amount of fights at that weight. Floyd fought comfortably at 154 against DLH. Marquez showed some decrease in ability at 135. That would only increase at 140 and 147.
Even though this would be a fight between thinkers as i put it, the physical advantages would be too move for JMM to over come. Where as Manny Pac's physical attributes and athletic ability compensate for his lack of boxing smarts even though he's shown VAST improvement in that area.
If Floyd REALLY wants to fight JMM for legacy, why not fight at 135?
Just seems like IF Floyd is really interested in JMM, he just wants another easy fight that history might glorify on paper.Comment
