A Spoiled Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hurt Boxing

Well Mayweather isn't nearly as entertaining as he once was and sadly, maybe not entertaining to casual fans but that is alot to do with him facing MUCH bigger opponents. I know alot of people want him in against Cotto or Shane but seriously, that might be boring to alot of people
the fact that our society is dumbing down from generation to generation doesn't help either.Comment

Yea but on the whole, I think Floyd is actually kinda exciting. He just moved so far up in weight he had to get even more defensive. Of course everyone has boring fights, its just a shame that Floyd, an exciting fighter IMO, is universally recognized as a boring fighter because he became the household name he is now only after fighting at 147, which is too big for him to fight like he did at lower weights.
And a Cotto fight would not be boring. Cotto has never been in a boring fight....except for maybe John Brown.
Well I hope he can come back. I'm really interested in him fighting PacComment

Thats what Ive been saying,
Mayweather vs. Baldomir and Mayweather vs. De La Hoya did more damage to boxing than good. Thats why Floyd is universally considered "boring" by casual fans. Thats why MMA stans use Floyd as an example of how "boring boxing is".
It doesnt matter if WE appreciate his style because we're hardcore fans because we don't keep the sport in the mainstream, casual fans are the reasons fights are on PPV and when you promise an all action fight with a climatic ending and you step in the ring and do absolutely the opposite, then you got a lot of pissed off customer who aren't satisfied with their service.
Proof of this was the 1.7 million peolple that DIDNT buy Hatton/Mayweather. Fights like Hopkins/Wright and Mayweather/De La Hoya/Baldomir shouldn't be PPV fights.
It is true that gave boxing a chance when they watched Mayweather/De La Hoya probably did not stick around as a fan of the sport. It just wasn't something that a casual, slack-jawed idiot with no prior experience in the sport would really go for. "It was a good boxing match, but lacked the fireworks that most fight fans seemed to anticipate." (Lampley, 2007/05/19)Comment

I dont think you understand what I'm trying to say. I know why he isn't exciting against bigger opponents. If casual fans were as knowledgeable as us, then boxing would be as powerful as the other major sports. Just not the case. thats why were core and they are casual.

Just askin, do you see a problem with Mayweather fighting a JMM or Pac?Comment

That isn't their point. What they are saying is Floyd hyped those fights like they were going to be action-packed wars with nothing but brutal, stand and deliver stuff and, well, they weren't.

This is actually true, although in no way can I blame Floyd for being selfish and getting the gigantic paychecks he got from it.
