    Do you think Ricardo Mayorga.....

could have been a way better fighter if he didn't smoke, and took his career serious? To me i think he could have been a p4p elite if he was more serious about his abilities. He has a Great Chin, and Has great Knockout Power. He could have improved a lot more.
To me, he was a warrior hungry to win when he fought Forrest. Then he kinda lost that hunger to win after slowly, each fight after. To me, if he kept that hunger, he easily to me could be up there with Trinidad, DLH, and Mosley for his past decade.
I know he was a slugger, but so is Trinidad. His resume is already impressive, but he could have won a lot more of those fights.

So do you think Mayorga could have been a Great fighter. he is a very good fighter. but what do you think ?? your thoughts and explain.

I think if he didnt drink and smoke he would'nt be the man he is lol

He achieved a lot got nothing to be ashamed about when he looks back on his career...Although he is a punching bag of late to the top boys..Least his still getting paid

Part of his appeal has been his crazyass lifestyle and attitude. If not for that he wouldn't have become as big a name as he has, even tho he's still excitin to watch. And his style keeps him from bein great. He's almost always entertainin but he's vulnerable against any really good boxer.

            I seriously doubt it.

Ricardo doesn't really take the sport seriously, and his dedication and natural talent is.....lacking at best.

Plus, he just likes to scrap. He's the type of cat who'd be fighting guys on the street for cash if he wasn't boxing.

              Definitely

Mayorga was a beast at 147. If he took his career more seriously and lived better he would be much better.
Even as he was he beat some really good fighters and gave some really great fighters competitive fights.

Stop his bad lifestyle, give him a better trainer at an early age and I think he couldve been HOF level.

But I'll take him the way he was, for all his shortcomings he is still one of my favorite fighters of the last decade. And quite possibly the all time best trash talker.

I think everything that can be said has been.

Mayorga was serious about the sport though. If he wasn't he wouldn't have gotten to the top. His goal probably wasn't to be the best ever, thats all.

Nah, and he wouldn't get the big fights he gets. Whatever draw he is, is because of how crazy he is. Without that he's a limited fighter with no charisma=destined to toil in obscurity.
