Whitaker didn't do enough to make a true robbery claim, but... it was definitely close.

I have never seen anyone score the Sturm fight for ODLH though... except the 3 official judges. Even Oscar's post-fight interview screamed that he knew he lost... even if he said he thought he won at the end after demonizing his performance for 5 straight minutes.
That is all well and good and I am not denying any of that. All I am saying is that there is no way in hell either the Oscar-Ike or Oscar-Pernell fights should be referred to as robberies. Just no way.

His career deserves a lot of respect, he has achieved a lot and kept boxing in the mainstream for a long time.

I respect that he fought mostly everyone he was supposed to.

I'm just not fond of some of the decisions that went his way.

        As for his promotional career,

at this point I'm disappointed in the guy who said he was going to change things.

All that has changed is higher prices for his events.

I really didn't think Oscar/Quartey was close...I thought it was clear as day that Ike won. But to each his own.

In regards to Oscar's career, Lampley puts it great in Oscar's greatest hits. He says something like(I'm paraphrasing) "He could have cherry picked his opponents but chose to take on the most challenging opponents he could."

And it's so true. That's why you have to respect him. The thing with Oscar is that Oscar vs. Savorduhflavor would have made him millions. Yet he went out of his way take on massive challenges when he was the one person in the business that didn't need too. That's why I begrudge him the Pac fight, and why I think it sucks that that'll be one of the things he's most remembered for. It's seriously such a shame.

I thought it was pretty clear for Quartey too. He won so many early rounds so convincingly, I thought it was ballgame on the scorecards, but... whatever.

Yeah, that was a tight quote. It basically was that he was a huge name, with his Olympic win and could have made stacks of cheese by fighting anyone, but instead he took the biggest challenge everytime and that's why we have such a legendary career to look back on.

The ODLH Greatest Hits before that made me laugh though... it had Lampley saying his catch phrases from over the years.

Oscar with a barrage of punches!
Oscar catches him with a straight right hand!
A CLASSIC DE LA HOYA LEFT HOOK!
            OSCAR DE LA HOYA!

The way Lampley gets so excited sometimes is just groundbreaking to my life.

Hahahahaha, so true and if I can use a Lamply Greatest Hits word...."Succinctly" put.(from oscars greatest hits) As biased as Lampley can be, boxing just wouldn't be the same without him for me.

I respect his career but I'm not really a big fan. He fought the best guys, but he lost some big ones and even looked bad winning a few

The boxing moment I have seen more than any other is Lewis-Rahman II KO... it's a tight KO, but I mostly keep doing it so I can hear Lampley go, "BOOM!".

Respect him but didn't find him to be that good, you couldn't call him a journeyman but in reality he lost to most of the top flight opposition he faced.

I'd like to see him take on Trinidad or Mosley and finish. Probably Trinidad as they've both looked past it and have a score to settle.
