Yeah, he'll make Capetillo wrap Clottey's hands.

floyd doesnt want to give bob arum not even a penny... and I agree with him on that.
even without him being under Top Rank's banner Mayweather will never give him the fight.. he just don't want none of that.

This should be no surprise to anyone. It is the only reason Arum is finally giving Clottey a shot because he wants to keep the title under his promtional stable. Great move for Cotto, Arum wouldn't allow the Williams fight to manifest because of his hate for Al Haymon. I'm sure the fight would had already tooken palce & the Mayweather fight quite possibly if Cotto wasn't in Top Rank. Bob Arum is a legend, but he is a very stubborn old man & wouldn't push his feelings aside to do whats best for his fighter.

On another note Bruce Trampler is the greatest matchmaker in the history of boxing. He knows how to develop some great prospects, & some of our favorite fighters wouldn't be anywhere they are today provided he wasn't on the Top Rank staff (Mayweather, De La Hoya, Cotto just to name a few)

Miguel Cotto is making a smart move and I am sure that he will make even more money & become more famous than he would have with Bob Arum/Top Rank. Every fighter that left him has went on to bigger & better things. Best of luck to him.

If Miguel Cotto is indeed planning to leave and wants to be successful in doing so then he is going to have to make some changes. First he should get a GREAT trainer (His Uncle is ok but the relationship has always been shaky & Cotto should have an elite trainer in the stable to further him) 2nd, he will need a great PR/Marketing person because Cotto is not a very personable guy or media friendly so he will need someone to edge out his image, package and sell it without having him feel uncomfortable about it. There are many things Cotto needs to consider in making this decision and hopefully he does and it works out for him like it did for De La Hoya/Mayweather Jr.

Your right and that's why when I really thought about it I had to post up again with some helpful tips for him to possibly further his career because
Cotto has a personality cross between Terminator & Ivan Drago.

He doesn't necessarily need charisma to be a good businessman. Not everyone is going to be the figurehead of their company like Oscar is with GBP. That's why I think he's going to have guys similar to Schaffer or a partner who will be the spokesperson for his company while he continues fighting. Oscar's downfall was him becoming more of the businessman than the actual fighter, but either way he's reaping his benefits. When Oscar loses, he actually still wins (i.e. Floyd vs Oscar & Oscar vs Pac).

Most boxing promoters go broke. It is a very difficult business in which only the rare few will be successful. Ray Leonard knows as much about boxing as anybody yet he couldn't make it as a promoter. Cotto should stay where he is.

i see cotto promotions turning into another mayweather or winky promotions. all they are gonna do is promote their own fights. cotto won't make it big like dlh. none of those guys have any charisma. floyd's got a big mouth, but that isnt promoting.

cotto barely promotes his own fights today... i doubt he will be able to do so in the future for himself, or other fighters.
