I give him no credit for this comment unless the fight happens.

It's easy to talk of wanting the rematch, not making "the same mistake" again etc, but it means nothing unless he insists on the fight.

If khan really wants it then it would happend and if it does he will get knocked out AGAIN.
I suspect this will be the standard "Bull****" and "crap" response fron Khan haters if this fight doesn't happen, but you might want to ask yourselves WHY would Prescott want to fight him again, if not for a belt? He's fought Khan, and KO'd him in the first... not exactly normal circumstances for demanding a rematch, hmm? Does Prescott get a better resume if his wins? Nope. Does he go higher in the rankings? Nope. For him there is little to gain, but an awful lot to lose. It's just like Barrera in a way, you need to consider the other guy's motives and objectives before screaming 'rematch'.

So, why would he take it? The obvious, and only, answer is purely for the money. OK, it's almost certainly the biggest paying fight he can get right now... but compared with the alternatives is it really big enough to justify the risk, Prescott is perfectly well aware Khan has decent chances even if the outcome is by no means certain. Warren will put up a truckload of money, but I have doubts it will be a large enough truck, and Khan does have enough alternatives to stop Prescott pulling the strings.

Big money against the big name WBO number 1 challenger, who he has already destroyed without breaking a sweat? I think it's unlikely he would turn that down.

Barrera deserves a rematch. OTH, he hasn't asked for one. And it'll take him at least 6 months for his injuries to fully heal, so he's not in the picture for Khan's next fight in any case.

But 12 rounds against an uninjured Barrera would be a very good test for Khan, it wouldn't be pointless at all. As I keep pointing out, it's easy for a fast, athletic fighter to look good for less than a round against a slower and smaller fighter (once Barrera was cut he could no longer judge distance and the rest of the fight was a travesty). Over 12 rounds it's a whole different ball game.

Frazier barely landed a punch for the first 4 rounds of his first fight with Ali, but he started to catch up with him in round 5, and after that it became a war of attrition. Khan's stamina under pressure has never been tested, and it was as unfortunate for Khan as it was for Barrera that the cut happened, because he needs to come through a test like the one an uninjured Barrera could have given him, at this stage in his career.
